25th anniversary screening of ‘Reservoir Dogs’ at Castro

In 1992, a low-budget, violent, inventive firecracker movie by an unknown director making his debut took the Sundance Film Festival by storm.

“Reservoir Dogs” not only introduced the world to Quentin Tarantino, but also helped popularize the festival, which had just rebranded itself Sundance in 1991 after years as the U.S. Film and Video Festival.

Miramax has produced a restored, 25th anniversary 35mm print that plays at the Castro Theatre on Friday, March 3.

Tarantino and actor Michael Madsen hosted the debut of the restoration at January’s Sundance.
