Let us save the North - Aisha Buhari speaks tough, asks governors’ wives to empower women, youth
The wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Buhari, has urged the wives of governors to prioritise the empowerment of women and youths as a way of curbing the menace of drug addiction in the Northern part of the country.
Mrs Buhari, who stated this when she received the wives of Northern Governors, said that drug addiction and abuse was one of the major challenges facing women and youth in the region.
Reports have it that the governors wives had earlier briefed Buhari on the progress made so far’to tackle drug addiction in Northern Nigeria.

“ You should consider training as your priority. It is not easy to deal with drug abuse but we need to empower the parents.
“ By doing so, I think it will reduce the chances of having so many children who are drug addicts because the parents will be financially independent to take care of the children.
Mrs Buhari said that she would use her pet project the ‘’Future Assured’’ to rehabilitate and empower the victims of drug abuse through existing structures.
She thanked the governors wives and Nigerians for the prayers for the success of this administration.

The leader of the delegation and wife of Zamfara State Governor, Mrs Asma`u Yari, said the delegation was planning a two-day sensitisation and advocacy campaign against drug abuse in the North.
She also said that they had resolved to contribute towards strengthening the existing rehabilitation centres across the country.
