Nikola Jokic on MVP award: Whoever wins will deserve to win

0

Winning the MVP would put Nikola Jokic alongside legendary Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, and Bill Russell as the only players with three straight Most Valuable Players Awards. Still, he doesn’t think about it. “It’s enough, I can’t, really. Third year… I don’t really think about it,” he said. “I play one game at a time, and that’s it. If it’s going to be, it’s going to be. Whoever wins will deserve to win, that’s how it will be for sure,” Jokic said to Glas Amerike.

How many more triple-doubles can Nikola Jokic record in Denver’s 9 remaining games? 👀
Most triple-doubles in a season by a center:

▪ 2022-23 Nikola Jokic (28)

Draymond Green says after the game Joel Embiid told him he played like he did tonight because he heard Green call Nikola Jokic the toughest guy to guard in the league and took it personally.

From a very bored Bulls PR team:
Vooch finished the 1st half vs. POR with 15 pts & 10 rebs, marking the 3rd time this season and 24th of his career with 15/10 in any half. He is the 4th player in the NBA this season with at least 3 such halves (Giannis, A. Davis, N. Jokic). – 11:13 PM

Nikola Jokic is tired of the noise around the MVP race. Having already won it twice, he sounds over the conversation.
“I don’t think about it anymore,” he said this week. “It’s past.”

The MVP debate may be spicy, and even ugly at times, but it bores Nikola Jokic. washingtonpost.com/sports/2023/03…8:55 AM

We see this narrative a lot, but as Matt points out, it’s just not true. The Bucks took a step back in the 2021 REGULAR season, but did so in service of things that ultimately helped them win the title.
Both started the season with the anti-3x bias. Jokic played his way past it. – 8:48 AM

Players Who make it easy for me to root against: Draymond, Randle, Luka, Brooks, Harden, KP, Morris twins Poole & again Dray. His antics are such a turnoff, I’m tempted to turn off Curry.
Players I root 4: Curry, Brunson, Sabonis, Joker, Ja, Jrue, Horford, Klay, Kawhi, Mikal – 10:10 PM

My MVP prediction, for the record: Either Giannis or Embiid will get the most first place votes but Jokic will still ultimately win by getting the most second place votes, setting up even more toxic discourse about how he lost the popular vote but won the electoral vote. – 7:54 PM

Nuggets had a 107.7 DRtg with Nikola Jokic on the court last night. Jokic had 3 steals — all led to points on Denver’s ensuing possession. Great move from Michael Malone to ride pretty much this entire quarter out with Denver’s starters. Nuggets have built a 15-point lead, and it’s because Murray-KCP/Brown-MPJ-Gordon-Jokic turned it up a level. – 8:42 PM

More on this storyline

After the game, Embiid told Green why he was inspired into such a herculean effort against Golden State. “He said, ‘You know why I played like that tonight?,” Green recalled on the postgame podium. “You said Joker was the hardest person to guard in the league, so I took that personal.’ So I wanna tell y’all Joel is the hardest guy to guard in the league.” -via Clutch Points / March 25, 2023
