Wembley is a weird one.
I’m a big football fan, as well as a Wigan Rugby fan.
I follow England (football) & attend a lot of games at Wembley.
I’m also lucky to have seen my football club at Wembley. (Lower league club so I’m not a ‘big club’ fan who goes every year & is spoiled by it, mind).
I bloody love Wembley. I love watching England there & I love watching my football club there.
But if I never ever went again with Wigan Rugby I wouldn’t miss it.
Wembley is a stadium which half-full is soulless.

A few "myths" debunked tonight anyways.

The RFL are and always have been the holders of the destiny of RL in the northern hemisphere unless that changes the downward trajectory will continue. They payed a kings ransom to IMG but are hell bent on ignoring the advise im sad to say.

Thing is Matts that the academy has only ever produced a couple of first teamers a year even in the golden decade.
The team can lose but you have one or two who go on to make it - that’s actually okay. Flip side of course is that winning games and titles at junior level is a general signal of health.
Looking at our pool, I’d say Jack Smith, Lumb, Cassell, Oladipupo, Gannon we know about, Lloyd, Stelfox, Simpson, Littlewood, Ned McCormack…. All decent chances of making first grade. Читать дальше...
There are a number of seasons where we would not have come back to win that game. I know Leeds are poor but winning away and after being well behind twice was great to see. Just a few reflections:
1. Clune is a decent half back, we look much better with him organising the team
2. Jake Connor can be mercurial, has a great passing game
3. Luke Yates is a terrific ball runner and defender
4. Golding has looked better and quicker passing in the last 2 games
5. We have pace on both wings - at last

Can anyone at today's game explain why we scored more points against 13 men than we did against 12?

He's a less mobile version of pauli, I'm more than happy for him to find pastures new elsewhere. Young hungry super league kids are what we should be looking for.

He dropped his full weight with no control while holding onto the Cas players shoulders, I'm not sure it's a text book hip drop because he doesn't land on the players legs but I'm pretty sure it'll be looked at and could be viewed as a reckless action resulting in an injury.
Didn’t see the Reserves game but report sounds like Sinfield and Ned McCormack knocking on the door. Hudson another injury - hamstring this time apparently.

I know the old board came in for quite a bit of stick but it can't be underestimated the job they did of helping keep us competitive on the pitch and there had been a few take over attempts in their time but were reluctant to release control to anyone who they didn't think had the funds to take the club forward. I think the new board are seeing that its not as easy as they thought it may be and you have to wonder if they are making good on promises they made.
Again though the sad reality is... Читать дальше...

We were a bit flat today. He sensed that and gee'd us up at key times, came up with a good try and a good shot at the time we needed it. True leadership

Best away day in the championship IMO recommend getting in the ground early and sampling the beer garden and the superb food in the ground.

Even though we are still dissecting last night, I thought I would get us started on the the next game with a quote from Grix:
We’ve got a longer turn around going into the Leeds game, so our sole focus is going to be defence. If you get yourself defending well, you get the ball in better areas and more possession – then we can worry about what we do with the ball in hand.
Now that Albert has been released by Castleford, it would be great if the Don's could get him back for the rest of the season.

Noticed something in Dan Tomlinson's latest article regarding the Rowley rumour that he says:
It's understood Hull would prefer a British coach who knows the ins and outs of Super League.

I think the problem is basically we've been working without a second row for about two years now. Weve been carrying Lane and Cator and now without a good front row they're beeing shown as completely average to poor. Next years recruitment has to focus on the second row as we need two completely new starting players who offer size, aggression and good engines. Once we sort that there will be more of a platform for the rest of the team to play from. Just a new scrum half, hooker, centre among others to sort too! Читать дальше...
