Roger and Dann worked because they were a ball player and the other was a nutter throw his head behind everything type.
Ferdinand and Terry worked for England because Ferdinand played the ball and Terry would throw his body behind everything.
Morrison and Shotton seemed like the Championship equivalent, just full of mistakes because they werent on the same level.
Morrison, Dean and Roberts all seem like limited footballers who throw there body behind everything and hoof it up. Читать дальше...
Kendall was class, I could see that even though I was pretty young at the time.
Dillon was superb.
Ward was very good albeit over a pretty short period of time at a lower level before he fell off a cliff.
Marsden was excellent and strangely underrated by some people.
Ferguson was really bloody good as well.
My favourite of those was Dillon - he had everything you'd want in a midfielder.

like i said before, its not an unwritten rule to be beaten on your near post, but not many keepers are and this is one where he shouldn't have been. Seriously have you seen the goal, its not that powerful a shot, its poor goalkeeping, simple as that.
A goalkeeper cannot overcompensate at covering his near post or else the attacker will just put it in the far post, a goalkeeper can only cover so much of the goal, if the attacker places the ball accurately within the near post and with enough power then it's just a good finish, this happens all of the time across every league, every week.
I have long thought that midfield has almost always been the weakest part of our team in 50+ yrs watching, the only ones that stand out for me (in chronological order)
Hennesy (going here on what I heard around me in the crowd, I was too young to judge.

Kendal sold my fave ever player (big bad Bob Latchford) to get him, but he was pure class.

yes was poor defending to allow Dallas to cut in and keep going, but the keeper should still save it, there are of course exceptions to being beaten on your near post, but this wasn't one of them, definitely should have stopped it, and i'm sure if he was asked he'd probably say the same.

Ignore the result..
For those that watched, did Nsue and Colin do well in their positions?
Did Colin look better than Grounds?
Yes, unusual for something not to add up there.

Stockdale should save the second, should never be beaten on your near post
If you were at the game, why did you post 9 times during the match in the match thread?
and then loads in the aftermath?
I was at the game and up until 75-80 minutes he was absolute gash.
In the last 15 or so he was going up for every header from our back 5s hoofballs and winning them all and he was guarding the back 4 (not very well considering we let in a last minute goal).
The first 80 minutes though he was absolutely awful. He really played like that kid in school that was so terrible at football but did try.

didn't Seaman tap his nose and wave at us every time we sang, 'Seaman is a Bluenose'?
Didn't realise just how poor Stockdale's effort to save the 2nd goal at the near post was, after watching that. Hope that was a blip and not a weakness in his game.
Ndoye would be the first to admit he's an anchor in midfield and not a box to box player , against some teams you need this sort of midfielder I think he will do fine for blues, he's a good honest addition who's growing in confidence with every game he plays
I'm just feckin gutted that Jota is injured, it's a huge blow to the style we want to play.
For me Colin was clearly out of position, Leeds saw this and were always trying to exploit it. I don't see how we can carry on with that solution.
On one hand, Nsue had a very good game in particular going forward. However, I wasn't too impressed with the defensive partnership of Dean and Morrison - they seem too similar maybe it will get better with time. The point is if the two center backs are not gelling, then we have Nsue pushing on and a left back area not secure, we are asking for trouble. Читать дальше...
I agree with some on here that Nsue was MOTM - best I've seen him play.
Boga and Jota look really exciting - they just need coaching - primarily about when to pass.
Davis and Lowe and Ndoye were more or less ok.
Dean looked good - though probably no better (and certainly a bit slower) than Shotton on his day. Morrison shaky at times - though I think blaming him for the 2nd goal is a bit unfair - albeit he was way out of position.

That's is defiantly our best two centre backs , Roberts seems a bit unsure when he's playing with a defender ( Morrison )that's not a 100% confident , but with Dean beside him I think they are going to make a good partnership
Spot on. The demand for everything to work right away is not only pathetic but utterly embarrassing. Some of our 'fans' are a joke.

With respect, as i wasnt at the game how can our back 4 look good if we concede 2 goals?
I thought these new players in defence were supposed to tighten us up. How did Morro play?
Harry said on the Blues site afterwards that he told Nsue it was his last chance last night - seems to have worked. Still prefer Colin over there, but if Harry wants to play three at the back then no reason Colin can't be the right side of it - although the desire to play that formation seems to be dying a bit for him now.
Good to have Nsue providing proper competition for Colin now though - wonder what we'll eventually do with Jenkinson.
