His pace is vital against them, they really got caught out three or four times against UTD Sunday(tu)

I understand the flip side of it. It's like football, to a degree, where money talks... It just really doesn't feel right.

Re: Lee Carsley checks out Birmingham City's signings on Wyscout - and comes to this conclusion

Small Heath Alliance

I've got a lot of time for Carsley.

Not just because he's a local lad, but he appears to be taking the job extremely seriously - particularly for somebody who says he doesn't want it.

Not only did the players sing his praises about the coaching sessions he has been putting on, but he's spending a lot of his time off the pitch trawling through Wyscout, looking for the best ways to utilise his players.

He's not just keeping it ticking over until somebody comes in and doing the bare minimum... Читать дальше...

Vassell has to start imo, he looks so dangerous when he plays, he was great when he started against Bournemouth.

Re: Donating to Charities

I get why that grates, as it doesn't seem quite right on the face of it, but I guess that the principle is that we want those charities to deliver the best possible results, and to do that (like any other business) you want the best talent on board - the best talent costs the most money. Putting aside the emotional side of it, that's the theory, and I accept that - whether or not it works in practice is obviously arguable at times.

I'd go with this team:

Kuzszack

NSue Dean Roberts Colin

Maghoma Davis Gardner Boga

Vassell Gallagher

I'm very confident we would beat Wednesday with this line up.

My prediction 2-0, Boga to shine!

Re: Donating to Charities

Small Heath Alliance

Good fecking point that is.

However, as earn my daily corn, I am required to deal with a variety of what we must now call 3rd sector agencies. All of them are funded primarily by local authorities and all of them are pretty high profile and work diligently at fund raising. Unfortunately, they aren't so diligent at doing what they exist for, and they certainly don't front up when the going gets tough.

I like DEC, because the money is raised quickly, targeted specifically and the goods get to where they are supposed to go... Читать дальше...

If Cancer research was a small charity, and they generated £10 million a year (80% of their turnover) for helping fight cancer, brilliant.

If Cancer research was a Large charity, and they generated £300 million a year (20% of their turnover) for helping fight cancer, that's even more brilliant. Because £300 million is still going to fight the cause.

The bigger a charity gets, the more it has to operate like a multi national organisation to increase it's income. Читать дальше...

What about if people want to give to one charity - say cancer relief - but don't want to contribute to another - say the RSPCA. Do you just refuse them if they have certain things they don't want to support?

Re: Donating to Charities

There seems to be a growing divide between small charitable organisations – with little profile but high energy, real street credibility and beneficiary involvement – and the traditional large organisations – with big reserves, highly paid chief executives and expensive central London headquarters, adds Beresford.

Very little of the money that may come from the super-rich is ever likely to find its way into the accounts of the grassroots voluntary organisations that make up the majority of charities. Читать дальше...

Re: Donating to Charities

Small Heath Alliance

I had a very genuine idea a few years ago for charity, and it would avoid being pestered and the guilt of saying no..

Every charity no matter what it is must go to the government with a figure of how much money they need for the year (would have to be verified).

It's then worked out what the percentage split is, for example cancer research account for 3.4% of all charity.

If people want to donate, then they donate to CHARITY, a central organisation that then gives... Читать дальше...

No civilised society should have the need for charities.

Exactly.

Had some bad experiences with charities and now decided I can't be bothered with them. I see it as a business these days.
A lot do have to be run along business lines, and have to account for themselves properly, pay staff, market themselves etc. They have to do this, they need to do this and they should do this. I do stuff with the Blue Cross, the Dogs Trust... Читать дальше...
