Re: First game

Small Heath Alliance

Chelsea have won the Youth Cup a few times in recent years, so they're sure to be hot favourites. Great to see Blues getting this far, though. Even better now we have a manager who's not terrified of giving the kids a chance in the first team squad.

First game

Small Heath Alliance

Have been debating it all season but I’m finally taking my lad to his first game tonight at the u18’s. He’s nearly 5 and hasn’t showed much interest in football as of yet and I don’t wanna force him into liking it just because I do.

I figured that as it’s only a quid a ticket tonight if he can’t stand it and wants to leave I’m only a few quid out of pocket and won’t be too bothered about leaving the game.

Fingers crossed he enjoys it and I’ll bring him down to the Burton game. Читать дальше...

This one has hit me harder than usual as he is only a few years older than my old man and it came so suddenly out of nowhere christ, its bloody scary how quickly it can all be over.

Rip Ray, always came across very humble and genuinely invested in english football, not just a job.

I know it's a 7pm kick off and a quid in, but does anyone know what stands are open? And what crowd are we expecting?

Our run in (30 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

I think we have the most difficult run-in of all the relegation contenders after Saturday.

I'm enjoying the good form as much as anyone, but playing Wolves, Fulham and teams competing for the playoffs is not making me feel confident.

As it stands, failing to win against Burton would be a disaster, since after that the only game in which I'd put us as favourites is QPR.

Could honestly see Barnsley catching us still.

Went to the pub on the other side of the M61 after the game for a quick one. It's up to the roundabout and turn right. I bumped into a small group of 'older' Blues fans, lovely people. They'd made a bit of a day of it and gone to Blackburn first to see Fred Pickering, which was great (for younger fans, Blues centre forward in the late '60s). He's 77 now, IIRC, and in reasonable health - they had a photo taken with him, and while he doesn't look like the player I remember, he looks better than I do. Читать дальше...
