FAO Electronics bods (no replies)

Small Heath Alliance

I chair a small mental health and wellbeing charity, for mainly older men.

I want to set up a small electronics lab, for mainly renovating and repairing old valve radios and amplifiers.
To make this a bit safer, I want to get a 1:1 4/5A mains isolation transformer and Variac. However, I cant find an isolation transformer anywhere for sensible money.
Does anyone here have one they would be willing to part with, or know of anywhere I can get one?

A3 size drawing reduced from A1 (4 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

I have been given an A3 plan which was originally in A1 format.
At A1 size the scale was 1 : 100
One room size on the A3 plan is 25mm across
Am I right in thinking that room size is therefore 5metres across ?

Stupid things you did as a kid (30 replies)

I was a really skinny lad when I was about 10 or 11. There was a gap of about a foot between our garage wall and that of our neighbours' garage so I decided it would be a good idea to see if I could squeeze through and walk the entire length of it from the back of the house to the front. I got about half way along and, you guessed it, I found myself completely stuck with my face scraping against one wall. Calling for help would only have resulted in the fire brigade coming and knocking our garage down... Читать дальше...

When We Tried To Get Don Revie. (5 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Back in the 1969-70 season when Stan Cullis resigned after finishing 18th in the old Second Division, one of the Manaers we approached to take the job was Don Revie. His team Leeds United had just won the old First Division and qualified for The European Cup.

By todays standards that would be like us approaching Pep Guardiola to become manager of Birmingham City. Could you just imagine.

I've had a mare.

Saw an RIP thread elsewhere only to find he died 7 years ago.

He was a bit before my time so I cannot comment on his time with us.

Best and Worst Quiz Shows (41 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

I'm going back a while but maybe Bullseye being the best, can't imagine any show host handing out the contestants cash winnings during the commercial break these days, always interesting that the professional darts player 'guest' would often throw very low scores and the speedboat special prize would go to someone from a landlocked place like Dudley or Stoke.
Another good one was Blockbusters.

3-2-1 hosted by Ted Rodgers being the worst, I don't think anyone understood what was going... Читать дальше...
