Missing the race at Sonoma Raceway due to injury, Aric Almirola makes his first and only road course start this season at Watkins Glen International (WGI). His favorite of the two road course races, he looks to top his best road course finish of 14th which he posted in 2015 at Sonoma Raceway. The No. 43 Smithfield team will utilize notes from last year as well as from Sonoma last June to get a good start for the weekend. Almirola will tap into the knowledge he got from past teammate and WGI winner Marcos Ambrose.

Chevrolet has more wins at Watkins Glen than any other manufacturer.  The Bowtie Brigade has been to Victory Lane at Watkins Glen 17 times in the 34 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series events held at the 2.45-mile road course.

The Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee (GTSC) and Xfinity Series driver Ross Chastain today held a meet-and-greet at Watkins Glen State Park to promote seat belt use. Chastain’s GTSC-sponsored race car sports the “Protect Your Melon” logo that is part of the campaign to promote the safe driving habit of buckling up.

100 Wins for Toyota: When Kyle Busch scored his first Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) win of the season Sunday at Pocono Raceway it marked the 100th Cup Series victory for Toyota since joining the series in 2007. Busch was also the driver to give Toyota its first MENCS victory in March 2008 at Atlanta Motor Speedway and has registered 35 Cup wins behind the wheel of a Camry. Roush Fenway Racing returns to the asphalt jungle where dreams are made of, as the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) prepares for the second road course race of the 2017 season at Watkins Glen International, just off the corner of 53rd and 3rd. A Roush Fenway Ford has visited victory lane six times at the historic road course.

If there’s anywhere experience is beneficial on the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series circuit, it’s the road courses of Sonoma Raceway and Watkins Glen International, the latter being the next test for Ryan Blaney and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team.

In 68 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series starts at Watkins Glen International, RCR boasts two wins (Robby Gordon 2003 and Kevin Harvick 2006), eight top-five and 21 top-10 finishes. Dale Earnhardt won three poles (1990, '92, '96) at the high-speed, seven-turn, upstate New York facility.

There are five races remaining until the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs begin, making this weekend’s annual stop at Watkins Glen International even more important for those drivers needing a win to qualify.

Truex finished third at Pocono as Kyle Busch won from the pole. Truex leads the Monster Energy Cup points standings by 48 over Kyle Larson.

It's easy to believe with Christopher Bell's dominance in the Camping World Truck Series this season that he's a lock for the 2017 championship. The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series headed to Pocono International Raceway yesterday for the annual running of the Overton's 150. It was quite the interesting race, regarding pit strategy. Here's a look at who's in my power rankings this week.

Continuing the underfunded team series and how low budget teams make it to each race. This week we take a look at MBM Motorsports who is a team owned by Carl Long. The team fields the number 66 on a part-time basis in the Monster Energy Cup Series and part-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series fielding the 13 and 40. Both of these rides have numerous drivers throughout the year.

AMG & 200 Productions new unscripted reality series, OPERATION THANK YOU, will follow two Carolina-based NASCAR racing teams, JD Motorsports and MBM Motorsports, as they build five special stock cars to honor the U.S armed forces. The series will culminate with the ‘Visit Myrtle Beach 200,’ a private racing event this fall at the Myrtle Beach Speedway.

Martin Truex Jr., driver of the No. 78 Bass Pro Shops/TRACKER Boats Toyota, spent a day in the local Darlington, S.C. community on Tuesday, helping to promote the upcoming Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway.
