Self on Racing at Michigan: “I’ve always enjoyed racing at Michigan,” said Self. “It’s a big track where speed is at a premium. Handling is just as critical with a good motor. The track was repaved several years ago, and the preferred lines are slowing widening out.
Fontaine on Racing at Michigan: “I really enjoyed racing at Michigan and I’m excited to get back there again,” said Fontaine. “It’s a fast race track and can be line sensitive. Even though the truck and ARCA car are different, I feel like my experience there should give me some good footing for this weekend’s race.
NASCAR Driver Cody Coughlin of the No. 2 JEGS Chevrolet Silverado, will be racing in honor of veterans around the world at the 2018 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Corrigan Oil 200 on Saturday, August 11th at the Michigan International Speedway.
Chip Ganassi Racing (CGR) announced today that Justin Marks will return to pilot to the No. 42 Chevrolet Camaro SS in the NASCAR Xfinity Series (NXS) road-course races at Mid-Ohio (Aug. 12), Road America (Aug. 26) and the newest road-course on the series’ schedule, Charlotte Motor Speedway (Sep. 29). Chevrolet Accessories, will serve as a primary sponsor for all three races.
Alex Bowman on finding success at Michigan: "We just need to put together a whole race without anything bad happening and run where we have the speed to run. We will wait and see. I like that place, though. We weren’t as strong last time there as I thought we would be, but our cars are getting better each and every week, so I think we can be much better there this coming race.”
Briscoe on Mid-Ohio “Mid-Ohio, at the beginning of the year, wasn’t one I was looking forward to, truthfully, but Ford has had me running a lot of road course stuff this year and I feel way more confident and actually really excited to go there. Reed on Mid-Ohio “We’ve been really good at Mid-Ohio and have had some speed when it rained a few years ago, and also when it’s been dry. We’ve had some good qualifying results too. Taking care of our race car will be the biggest thing."
Stenhouse Jr. has 11 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Michigan International Speedway with an average starting position of 20.0 and average finishing position of 21.7.
Bayne will make his 15th MENCS start at Michigan International Speedway on Sunday. In his 14 previous starts, Bayne has an average finish of 21.1 with one top-five and two top-10s.
THE GRANDDADDY OF THEM ALL: Kasey Kahne is spending the week at Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for the annual Knoxville Nationals sprint car event. Kahne will race on Wednesday night (8/8) in an attempt to qualify for the feature event which is on Saturday night (8/11). Kahne will be behind the wheel of the No. 4 Ollie’s Bargain Outlet car with his Kasey Kahne Racing team.
