The Slovak Culture Minister Marek Madaric, resigned on Wednesday after the murder of an investigative reporter that has shocked the country. Marek Madaric said the resignation was his personal decision, and not influenced by anyone else. He said as the culture minister he could not accept the fact, that a journalist was killed during his tenure. The head of Russia's Olympic Committee said on Wednesday that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had reinstated his organisation's membership after suspending it over doping allegations. This timelapse from scenes of Alexandros Maragos' new film, "City of Athens - a Portrait of a Changing Metropolis", shows the changing skyline of the Greek capital. "I had the concept of this film in my mind for many years. I wanted very much to do something for the city of Athens. I 'd like to present our home place in a different way," the filmmaker told Euronews. Maragos' film is a homage to Athens. In less than a week, the movie went viral, with more than 300,000 views on Vimeo and YouTube.

Thousands of Macedonians have braved the snow and the cold in Skpoje to protest against their government's proposals to change their country's name. A double-decker London bus struggles up a hill. A black cab taxi drives the wrong way down a snow-covered road. And a vehicle belonging to a private taxi firm slides out of control. A south-east London woman captured all of the above scenes today as blizzard conditions made driving hazardous throughout much of the UK.
