Bulls, Zach LaVine not seeing eye-to-eye

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Multiple league sources and sources close to the organization say Zach LaVine and the Bulls are not seeing eye-to-eye. Over the past few weeks, there’s been a palpable feeling across various parts of the franchise of a disconnect over LaVine’s situation in Chicago. All of this has been happening while LaVine is in the first season of a five-year, $215 million maximum deal that was signed this summer.

Derrick Rose on trade scenarios: I don't think the Knicks want to move me like that

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

As The Athletic’s Fred Katz recently expanded upon, New York has been discussing trade scenarios around several players, including Derrick Rose, Quickley, Cam Reddish and Evan Fournier, an aspect that does not phase Rose. “The team is keeping communications open with me: When they told me I don’t think that they want to move me like that, they know that I have a lot left, and they love my connection and relationship that I have with all of the players on the team,” Rose said. “I’m not in the locker room trying to f... Damian Lillard: 'I've always said I wanted to be the best'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

“I’ve always said I wanted to be the best,” Lillard told reporters last week. “To be the guy who when they say ‘Who is the best to come through here?’ I want people to look and say ‘Dame.’ Obviously, scoring isn’t everything, but when you start to get up in these type of numbers, that’s a major thing. The fact that it’s Clyde’s record, anybody who knows the history of the NBA respects and honors that. Being a part of one organization for this long, and to be able to sustain this level of success... Читать дальше...

Dejounte Murray: 'We've got to grow up'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Dejounte Murray was a little more blunt in his assessment, saying the Hawks need to ‘grow up.’ “I think we just got sloppy, got comfortable,” said Murray of the final three minutes. “Like I was preaching after the game, we’ve got to grow up. Starting with me. Just what we’re playing for, these type of games show we’re not playing to win and get to the playoffs and try to make noise. We’ve got to grow up. It’s OK to learn from a win, even losses, but you’d rather learn from a win than a loss. We... Читать дальше...

Donovan Mitchell: 'It’s a blessing to be back around people that look like me'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Donovan Mitchell: And then to be able to not see many of us in the crowd, I tried my best to make sure I invite young Black and brown kids to games, to be around the community. But just to not see us there, it was definitely tough. And being in Cleveland now, you see us courtside. It’s just refreshing. It’s a blessing to be back around people that look like me.

Donovan Mitchell on dynamic with Rudy Gobert: 'We wanted to both win, but we wanted to do it two different ways'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

What’s the reality of your relationship with Rudy and where is it now? Donovan Mitchell: Honestly, basketball just didn’t work. We live in such a world where it has to be really negative. Basketball just didn’t work. We didn’t see eye to eye. We wanted to both win, but we wanted to do it two different ways. It didn’t work. But as far as him and I go as people, I don’t hate him, and he doesn’t hate me. I wouldn’t say we’re the best of friends, but we’re not at the point where it’s like, I can’t stand him. LeBron James on potential moves: 'Not a question for me'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

After the win, LeBron James was asked if he had concerns that the front office would be reluctant to make a move with Davis out for an extended period. “Not a question for me,” James said. “I have no idea. When I’m playing, I show up, prepare, go to work and get my guys ready to go win a basketball game. I play the game, I’m not in the front office, so we’ll see. But I’m focused on the game and us trying to win basketball games, especially when I’m out on the floor.”
