Blazers aggressively trying to set up multi-team trade scenarios for Damian Lillard

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The Blazers have begun exploring scenarios beyond the Heat. “Portland is trying to put together a number of multi-team scenarios to see they can get the assets back in a trade for Damian Lillard,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “They have been aggressive here in the last weeks… only because the league started up again. Labor Day comes, teams are engaging again. I do think they’re engaging. The question is do they find a deal in the next couple of weeks or do they have to bring Damian Lillard back to camp?”

Brooklyn Nets 2023-24 depth chart: Starters and backups

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The Brooklyn Nets’ 2023-24 season will be led by young swingmen Mikal Bridges and Cam Johnson, the two prized acquisitions from the Kevin Durant trade. Bridges looked fantastic last season after getting to Brooklyn, playing like a two-way All-Star, while Johnson remained as reliable from the three-point line as ever.

DeMar DeRozan on having to shoot more threes: I don't have to do anything, only 38 people all-time have more points than me

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

DeMar DeRozan offered a blunt assessment and behind-the-scenes peek into his mindset when asked about his relative lack of 3-point shooting at his season-ending interview in April. His response might make some Chicago Bulls fans cringe. Still, it was a significant counterargument that speaks to the challenge of converting DeRozan into a consistent long-distance shooter. When you’ve lasted 14 NBA seasons, six of which you were named an All-Star performer, it’s understandable to view your game as satisfactory. Читать дальше...

If Blazers trade Damian Lillard to team that isn't Miami, Lillard expected to ask them to trade him to Heat

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

If Damian Lillard is traded to a team other than Miami, he is expected to ask to be traded to the Heat. “I think there are teams that will trade for him,” Wojnarowski said. “But it’s a little bit of a negotiating crutch where you tell Portland, ‘Hey, I’m not offering you everything we might because we’re taking risk here.’ “He says he only wants to play in Miami. That kind of dulls the offers a little bit. Portland is trying to put together a number of multiteam scenarios to see if they can get the assets back they want.”

Knicks eyeing Giannis Antetokounmpo situation?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

I assume the Knicks have a good idea of where they stand if Giannis Antetokounmpo becomes available via trade. Are they willing to hold off on any significant trades this season or in the 2024 offseason while they wait for Giannis? That approach doesn’t always end well around here. Just look at the Knicks’ 2019 offseason. If I had to guess, I’d assume that team president Leon Rose & Co. will make moves with Giannis in mind. But I don’t think the Knicks will take a “Giannis or bust” approach over the next 18 months. Читать дальше...

Jamahl Mosley: 'Paolo Banchero is a combination of Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James and Jayson Tatum'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Are there any players that remind you of Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner? Jamahl Mosley: Because the game has changed so much over the years with players getting more talented and higher IQs, you have to give combinations. Paolo is a combination of Carmelo (Anthony), LeBron (James) and (Jayson) Tatum. There are different combinations of things they possess. The passing skills. The ability to score in different areas. The power that they possess. Franz is between a mixture of Khris Middleton, Kawhi (Leonard) and Kevin Durant in the footwork. Читать дальше...

Jamahl Mosley on Jalen Brunson: 'There's a killer walking in there'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Jamahl Mosley: You saw it ahead of time. I’ve known him for years. Me and his dad know each other well. When Jalen was in high school, he was in Chicago, and I worked him out a few times when his dad was with the Bulls. You could see there’s something in him that’s more competitive than people realize. There’s a professionalism he’s had for so long in the way he pushes his teammates, pushes himself, and the way that he works. He wants to be the first in the gym, and he wants to be the last out. Raptors kicking the tires on Damian Lillard?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

While the Portland Trail Blazers guard hopes to be dealt to the Miami Heat, that hasn’t stopped other teams from wanting to trade for him. “I’ve heard that it’s not just one team, that multiple teams in the East [called for Dame], the Raptors being one of them,” Matt Moore said on the Locked On NBA podcast. “That’s the thing nobody is really saying, but everyone around the league knows the Raptors we’re amongst the teams. They’ve kicked the tires.”

Andre Iguodala: 'If Dillon Brooks wasn’t crazy, he wouldn’t be in the NBA'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

“There’s certain guys in the NBA that wouldn’t be in the NBA if they didn’t have that crazy mentality of how they view himself. There’s a selfishness with how they view themselves. If Dillon Brooks wasn’t crazy, he wouldn’t be in the NBA,” Iguodala said in an appearance on JJ Redick’s podcast, The Old Man and the Three.

Paul Pierce to Gilbert Arenas: 'Put some respect on Dream's name'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Other NBA players came to the defense of both Olajuwon and Antetokounmpo on the Instagram video Arenas posted. “U crazy,” Hall of Famer Paul Pierce wrote in the Instagram comments. “Put some respect on Dream’s name first of all. That move Dream did on baseline with the one arm fake layup, they still doing today. Stop it.”
