Warrington Wolves • 10 years on since worst losing run in Wire history

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

We lost the 2013 final because Joel Monaghan and Ratchford went off injured and we didn't have cover on the bench. It wasn't about being overawed by the big game or not knowing what a Grand Final was about (especially as we'd been there in 2012), or not having Louis Anderson.

I wonder how last night would have turned out, when Wigan were coming back against us, if we'd lost Charnley and Ratchford and had to find a fullback and winger out of BMM, Jason Clark, Tasi and Philbin. Could have gone... Читать дальше...

If it comes down to it and Edwards isn’t coming and we want a long term coach, I’d be looking at Danny Ward, Ian Watson, Shane Flanagan or that bloke who’s working a day a week in Scottish Rugby Union (doubt there’s any chance of that whilst Lenagan is here though).

None of us know what is happening with SE or anyone else long term, but that's not the problem at the moment. The title of the topic is Lam needs to go fast, I would suggest that it should be retitled Lam needs to go TODAY. Читать дальше...

Epitomized by the penalty given against leuluai while Ben Westwood knelt on his neck.
I think it was Westwood, anyway after a long line of garbage at pob in both defense and attack, that signaled the switch off for me.
Wakey Wire next week, I have to go but I know I will be bored 5h1tless with this nonsense.

Most of the players penalised don't really do enough to get out the way. Lying on the ground with your hands up isn't trying. Having said that Clark definitely practically jumped on top of Shorrocks before playing the ball late on last night.

I agree that players need to be making an effort to clear the ruck but I think we've reached a situation where it no longer matters whether they are or not, it's a penalty anyway. This has lead to attacking players... Читать дальше...

London Broncos • Re: Wigan

Warrington by their own admission spent a fortune on a massive and expensive marketing campaign to get bums on seats. If a club like Warrington have to do this when playing a name like Wigan there really is no hope is there. In actual fact London are the only SL club who's crods have increased on last year.

Wigan Warriors - wiganrugbyfans.com • Ruck penalty.

Rugby League Supporters Association Online

Is anyone else getting sick of the penalty for being behind the ruck? It's the softest, most cringe-worthy rule in our game and one that is becoming a real issue. Teams are now playing for it. In the Saints game a player actually straddled another to hold them in place while they played the ball into them! Again, last night there were multiple examples of players using this to get easy yards up field.

Whilst you can't blame coaches and players for taking the easy route, I think it's now a... Читать дальше...

I thought we looked a little livelier when Jake came on last night, his service from the PTB was a lot sharper and wider than either Tommy Or Sam P. and his kicking game could be utilised from that position a lot more than the 2 previously mentioned, it may be just a coincidence but with that quicker wider service George seemed a little livelier. It may be worth giving him a run at 9. Thoughts please.

Michael Maguire was never a head coach but came to SL and won a SL and CC in 2 years.

You talk as though everything is as black and white as a CV with some achievements on it. If only it was that simple when hiring a coach

He coached Northern Pride to two winning seasons so I suggest his CV is somewhat better that Lambs. Читать дальше...

11 starts and 13 bench appearances with a lot of them at hooker to ease him in to the side.

That would be an ideal scenario for Smith in 2020 of course but I don’t think we can afford to think we say ‘there’s the seven shirt’ and expect him to boss the team round for 30 games.

I think we just hadn't learnt the game for the GF. It's a much higher intensity with the atmosphere, 80k people all on top of you and the short time to prepare, evening cameras flashes and large press gatherings pitch side.
It's complete different to a Wembley final, even if the opponents were the same, where there is a little more time and the large parapet between and family day competition.

I think last October we finally understand what it was about. We'll be better prepared than any team come the GF. Читать дальше...

Another frustrating display from him.

Anonymous for most of the match but seemed to spark up at about the hour mark and showed some real quality all be it for a fairly brief spell.

I know our pack was bettered for most of the match but marquee players have to be able to deal with that and mix it up and he just doesn’t seem willing or able to step up at times.

I look forward to watching him for the rest of the year as I am sure his quality will shine through but I think the expected... Читать дальше...

I agree with that, but London have the advantage of geography that Leigh didn't. Let's say very conservatively they win another 2 games all season, thats 5 wins, are we good enough to get another 5 wins this year? I'm really not sure. The next two games are already massively important and if we lose both i think we are gone.

Albeit on Sky Jake looks a great piece of business for Warrington and Uate a dud thus far for us ?

Add this to the Connor fiasco and is it ‘three Jakes and out ?

We desperately need one, ideally two class players ASAP. Priority 1 has to be a prop, releasing Mitch Garbutt has been a serious mistake. Priority 2 a half back, ours are rubbish.

20%! Math not your strong point? At this moment in time the only known long term casualty is Huby. England isn’t injured but has been ill (whatever that means) whilst TJ and Tupou are unknown.
