What needs to be done in the next six months ... (46 replies)
The next six months are crucial. Firstly in the summer we need to organise a decent pre-season which, apparently, was lacking last year. From the little I’ve seem of Mr Monk in his short time with Blues and his previous jobs he seems like the sort of bloke who will make a huge effort to get this right, as he seems a well-organised chap with a decent backroom staff to help him. So this part of the equation should be ticked off quite nicely, which should ensure that we’re not fighting relegation.
Secondly the comings and goings need to be managed carefully. The goings are probably easier to manage, as Monk will already have identified which players he doesn’t fancy and they’ll be on the way out. Finding players to replace them will be much more tricky as that depends on our current owners and their representatives, neither of whom have done much to encourage our confidence.
Finally, the new owners COULD be in place in October. Even people like Mayor aren’t sure who these people might be, and again we’re likely to be kept in the dark until the last minute as to their identity and, perhaps what is more relevant, their reasons for investing in this Big-City-Low-Achieving club.
Anyway, my questions to you are ...
1. What is Monk going to need to do to have the squad properly prepared and staffed so that it’s in a position to challenge for a place in the play-offs?
2. What’s the best we can hope for with regard to the new owners?
Try to keep your answers relevant and, above all, realistic - I know that the best owners we could hope for would be someone like Man City’s, but that ain’t going to happen!
Every “tldr” will get a :) from me, but I’ll keep it to myself rather than posting it.
Thank you.
