The mother in law has kindly offered to have the kids for a week so me and the wife can go on holiday child free for my 30th so were looking at somewhere a little different where we can just relax and possibly do a bit of scuba diving/snorkeling and a couple of people have recommended Costa Rica

Best country I have ever visited. If youre diving go drake bay. You couldn't spend ages there but the spots there are a delight. Once you've done just travel around. Every area is different. Every area is fascinating. Drink the beer. Drink the rum. Local food is simple but tasty. Locals are an absolute delight.
Avoid san Jose. Get out as quick as you can. Very boring.
