Give me a shout. I've got a mate who's brilliant and is just starting off on his own fulltime. Drop me a PM and I'll pass on the details - he'll be cheap.

Parachute Payments (1 reply)

Small Heath Alliance

Interesting article from last March:

It's funny because Sunderland are currently 4th in League 1 (although they have 3 games in hand), whilst Boro and Vile have hardly ripped the league apart since their relegation. The beautiful thing about football is that money is not everything, as evidence by Fulham's summer spending - the third highest in the premier league.

Ultimately you would imagine over the next few years this will really create... Читать дальше...

Re: Parachute Payments

It really is unbelievable that so many appear to be still operating without relegation clauses in contracts.

The other interesting comment in the article is that clubs receiving parachute payments are twice as likely to get promoted than those not receiving them. You imagine there are some stats behind that that rather contradict this belief that its not that easy to get back up once you come down.

Even the EFL would suspect something if this started happening every year or two.

are you sure? they havent spotted anything amiss with derby's stadium being valued at £80m (or v***a's youth set up costing £11m per year) what makes you think they'll suddenly sit up and take notice?
Not only the valuation of £80m but the fact Melvyn Morris already owns the stadium . Then sets up a company and sells it too himself .????

It's a stitch up, they'll be bringing Uriah Rennie out of retirement next. How old is this Dean chap now I thought he'd hung up his whistle years ago.

He's bad but he's no Paul Danson.
Yes there have been plenty of terrible ones. They seem to have one good game that enables them to get away with countless horror shows.

Drinks in Brum (19 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

We're hosting a conference thing at our offices and I've been tasked with organising somewhere for around 30-40 people to have drinks afterwards in Town (no food).

Doesn't need to be flash, but not a shithole either. It's on a Tuesday so I wouldn't expect many places would be too busy.

Offices are at the back of Colmore Row and most people will be getting the train in and out of New Street so I'm thinking somewhere between the two.

Can anyone recommend anywhere? I've... Читать дальше...

All Bar One on Newhall Street can rope off the back area, normally for free. That’s close by and ‘business’ enough.

St. Andrew's was the destination for Kristian Pedersen. However, it was St. Andrew's Catholic Primary School in Solihull. 60 years ago (5 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

According to my understanding, it'll be 60 years ago on 4th April that Jeff Hall died.

I'm not quite old enough to have seen him play (but do remember the scoreboard) - but my dad who was a Blues fan from the 30's to the 70s told me he was the best player he ever saw in a royal blue shirt.

Apologies if I haven't checked the club site...but is anything being done to mark the anniversary?

Ground applause in the 60th minute of the Leeds game?

Re: 60 years ago

Small Heath Alliance

Wasnt the old scoreboard named after him?
Stephen Carr best right back in my time watching, but I always acknowledge that historically Jeff Hall best ever!
I never saw any of that late 50`s team play but wish I had!

Merrick
Hall
Green
Warhurst
Smith
Watts?
Astall
Kinsey
Brown
Murphy
Govan

WAs that the 56 team?
