Small Heath Alliance

A friend's off to Bratislava tomorrow, any suggestions to where he can go to enjoy himself?

Thats a great pic.

Most vilers would give up their 12th toe to live in luxury like that.

Walking along the beach in Cape Verde and saw this beach shack selling stuff. I’m giving the guy my Blues shirt tomorrow on one condition. He sings SOTV at any vilers that come along ????

I like Alex Scott and Karen Carney when they do the punditry on the BBC, better than most of the blokes!

I think Carney does more radio work

Blues fan to have won the Victoria Cross (15 replies)

I was researching my grandmother's burial in Robin Hood Cemetary and came across Thomas Turrall who was born in Small Heath and later lived in Hall Green where he died in 1964.

He served in the Worcestershire Regiment and won the VC in July 1916.

A memorial game was played at St.Andrews in 1919 with the Birmingham Colts.

howard road

Would have been a few at ‘Rorke’s Drift’ from the big Zulu battle in 1879. Welsh guys got most of the attention with VC’s but Warwickshire Regiment was there too. Read a fantastic history of the Zulu wars called ‘The Washing Of The Spears’ . Mention there of the ‘Brummagem Boys’ . A few would also have been wiped out in the Battle of Isandlwhana earlier that day when the Brits were overrun by 20K Zulus.
Went there post World Cup 2010 and had one of the battlefield history tours. Читать дальше...

Peter Shilton (12 replies)

There's a cracking interview with him in the Guardian today, which is well worth reading, highlights include these gems

Obviously it’s not just about screaming and shouting. It’s the way you give defenders confidence – while keeping them on their toes. The goalkeeper can see everything

Goalkeepers are not necessarily judged on saves. They’re judged on the amount of mistakes they make

If you’re letting goals in stupidly, it destroys the team

It all starts at the back. Читать дальше...

I was right by the fence when Dennis got Ball sent off that game, effing hilarious.

"Hard luck son"
"You effing what!"

I presume that as they have had over a week to discuss possible arrangements and prices etc that they will release all of the details today.

Need to book train tickets.

I don't think Cov will give us the Tilton end - they won't want to concede home advantage! It will be held in reserve in case their fans turn up in numbers.

Really recommend it. They were talking about Blues' punishment last season and how the points deduction was meted out. Apparently we got docked an extra 2 for signing Pedersen but also reclaimed a point because we shopped ourselves in? Lol. He also said that the EFL didn't push for the strongest penalty with us but are going all out for Sheff Wed - 21 points is what they're hoping to hit them with.

Another interesting tidbit is that last season Stoke had the most expensively assembled side in Championship history, costing £128m! Читать дальше...

Stoke City have the second richest owners in the EFL so not surprising how much they've thrown at a return to the "promised land", good thing though is it's not working at the moment.

Morning Blues hows it goin? Sorry I've been away a while, been a busy boy, hope you all had a good xmas and new year.

Shame to see you guys not having the best of times on and off the field at the moment, we know full well how that feels! Heres to hoping you turn it around and have a good second half.

Us. Well. Its looking like a realistic proposition that we could be back in the championship next year. Best football I've seen in years, and the fans of teams we face saying were... Читать дальше...
