Ten years of the Venkys (6 replies)
It is remarkable how many aspects of the turmoil the club has been through under their ownership have been mirrored at Blues, including:
- Wealthy and apparently well intentioned owners being hopelessly advised and maniuplated by agents leading to...
- Bizarre and haphazard transfer activity resulting in millions upon millions of pounds being pissed away on no-marks and no-hopers, alongside...
- A revolving door of managers, with the the decision making behind appointments seeming ever more disjointed which eventually all led to...
- A team perenially struggling at the arse end of the second tier.
For a period at Blackburn, this whole operation was also fronted by an bloke with an opaque sporting and commercial background. It all sounds far too familiar familiar.
The only thing we haven't yet mirrored is the fact that by hook, by crook or by sheer dumb luck we haven't yet reached the third tier like Blackburn did.
The moral of the story is this though; Blackburn are now in a better position going forward because they have a CEO and senior management team over here who know what they are doing, even with the same owners bankrolling things.
I've said for a long time that we have no real chance of getting rid of the people who own the club, but we can cause a metaphorical ruckus to hopefully influence who runs things on the ground here. There will be a time in the relatively near future where I am sure something will happen in the public domain which once again shows the way the club run day-to-day in its true light.
