Pat Wright RIP
Pat made his first division debut for Birmingham city on 28th November 1959 deputising for Brian farmer in a 2-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers.
He went onto a successful career making over 230 league appearances for clubs Shrewsbury, Derby, southend and Rotherham.
Following his retirement as a player, Pat coached all over the world, spending a significant period of time in the middle east alongside the former Leeds and England manager Don Revie and also Jimmy Hill.
He set up the Pat Wright Football Academies in 1983, which he ran for over 35 years, coaching hundreds of children, many who went onto have successful trials at clubs on Pats recommendation. His passion and commitment for youth development in football went onto be recognised by clubs around the country, who in turn set up there own youth development/football academies.
Pat never lost his drive to pass on his experience and knowledge of the game, and up until the last few years, he was still regularly provided one on one sessions locally.
He was prominent, well liked and respected figure in the game and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
