ClutchFans: Stephen A Smith says James Harden blew his chance with the #Rockets. “James Harden actually talked himself out of a max deal because he went in there talking about how he wanted to return to being that scoring champion and Ime Udoka and them were like ‘Nah, we ain’t trying to have that here. We’re building something a little bit different.’ Had he come in there and said the right things, they would have given him a max four-year deal. He talked himself out of his own max deal.”

Zhaire Smith is perhaps best remembered as part of the 2018 draft day trade where Smith and Miami’s 2021 first-round pick were dealt for the 10th pick, Mikal Bridges. The Texas Tech product only lasted two seasons with the Sixers, and has since been trying to find his footing in the NBA landscape. “There’s not a trade out there that keeps the Sixers in championship contention this season,” said Adrian Wojnarowski. “The difference between the Harden situation and the Ben Simmons’ situation a couple of years ago is there were a lot of possible deals out there for Ben Simmons. You would measure them. You would look at them. What they could get. Teams in both conferences had interest in Ben Simmons. “This is different. There’s not widespread interest in James Harden.”

“The Clippers are the most motivated team to give up at least a first round pick in this. Or potentially, let’s say, a pick swap. I’m not saying they’ve offered that in this. “The Clippers are the most win-now team. They’ve needed to solidify that lead guard position. At the same time, the Clippers are not in a position to gut all their assets for the future… They also know ‘We don’t want to bid against ourselves.’ The Sixers don’t have anything else. The Knicks talked to the Sixers early on in this thing... Читать дальше...
“We’re going to run plenty of pick-and-roll because Chris [Paul] is one of the best pick-and-roll players in the world,” Kerr said. “But he’s also showing he’s very interested in incorporating some of the stuff we already do — our split cut game and our movement. He’s such a smart player that he’s already figured out ways to be effective. We’re going to lean into him and he’s going to lean into us, and we’ll meet halfway and the offense will form.”
