LeBron James working with Obamas, Peyton Manning on NBA docuseries
Between “Beckham,” “Quarterback” and the nationally captivating “The Last Dance,” we are clearly living in our peak sports docuseries era. And now four-time, NBA champion LeBron James and hall of famers Peyton Manning have combined with the Obamas’ production company to contribute their own sports series centered around the NBA, Variety has confirmed. James’ SpringHill Company (which he started with business partner Maverick Carter) will join Manning’s production company Omaha Productions and the Obamas’ Higher Ground. The series will divide up each episode following various NBA athletes as they live their lives, similar to the Netflix docuseries “Quarterback,” which followed three NFL quarterbacks during the 2022-2023 football season.

After what happened at the end of last season, this ‘could’ be the end for LeBron James. Even if it isn’t, he’s entering a new stage of his career, one of profound respect, retreating from the bully pulpit, and chasing Larry, @TheAthleticNBA theathletic.com/4982115/2023/1… – 7:22 PM

Cedi Osman played a season with LeBron James in Cleveland, and is now on the ground floor for the start of the Wemby era in SA.
So I asked him the completely unfair question of whether he sees any similarities between the two players’ approach to the job: pic.twitter.com/jc2DR0plaL – 3:36 PM

More on this storyline
Dave McMenamin: In this new commercial spot, voiced by Savannah James, there is a reference to LeBron’s continued desire to not only play with his son Bronny, but also his son Bryce, before retiring. -via Twitter @mcten / October 23, 2023
In the meantime, James’ already untouchable status as one of the greatest ever to play only continues to rise — among his peers if not among the general public. “Some guys might say he is No. 2, but other guys like me, I say he is No. 1, and he’s still going,” said Giannis Antetokounmpo, putting it plainly that he believes James is the best NBA player ever, ahead of Michael Jordan. -via The Athletic / October 23, 2023
“For 21 years, you never get in trouble, to be able to take in his family, protect this family, raise his kids the right way, you know, be happily married, all those things, it’s perfect,” Antetokounmpo said. “He’s kind of like setting the blueprint for the rest of us to go forward. That’s what I want. I want to be able to do what I do on the court consistently, be good, be healthy, be available for my team, be able to, you know, raise my family in a bubble away from what I do on the court for them to have a normal life as much as I can. Stay out of trouble. -via The Athletic / October 23, 2023
