Bruce Brown: Tell Nuggets general manager Calvin Booth that I love him

0

Bruce Brown will get his own mini ceremony on January 14 when the Pacers play in Denver, the second stop on a six-game road trip. Starting Wednesday night against the Washington Wizards, he’s tasked with helping the Pacers move the culture forward, setting the tone defensively with Myles Turner and winning games. Oh, one more thing. As he wrapped up talking with local reporters on Tuesday, Brown had something else to say. “Also, tell (Nuggets GM) Calvin Booth that I love him,” he said walking off and moving forward.

Pacers guard Bruce Brown elevated his game in Denver, won a championship and celebrated appropriately.
But he had to watch ring night from afar. His moment will come in January.

More on this storyline

Bruce Brown isn’t living in the past, though, but he absolutely learned from it. The togetherness, unselfishness, and how his Nuggets team piled up wins while some others questioned whether they could win it all. Then they did, all without any of their playoff series’ going the distance to seven games. “I loved being there,” he said of Denver. “I loved my teammates and we obviously won a championship together. But now it’s time to move on.” -via Fieldhouse Files / October 25, 2023
The NBA tipped off another season Tuesday night in Denver and Bruce Brown was away from his former teammates. He was in Indiana preparing for their opener, but watched intently on ring night — the final celebration for what a team accomplished the previous season. “I actually just texted the guys,” Brown said after Tuesday’s practice, hours before the jewelry was distributed. “I’m going to be watching. I’m going to be cheering them on because those are my guys. I can’t wait to see what the ring looks like because I haven’t seen it.” Yes, Brown is still on the group text. And it’s not just for special occasions like this one. “We text probably every day so when the guys act like they don’t like me, they love me,” he said with a smile. -via Fieldhouse Files / October 25, 2023
“There’s definitely a chip on my shoulder,” he said. “I was definitely undervalued but not only that, the market was horrible this year. Bruce Brown won a championship this year and he got only $30, or $40 (million) and he deserves a bigger bag than that. Kelly Oubre only signed one-year, average 20 (points) in the East. I mean, the market right now is not that good and I read into all that and I’m betting on myself like I did for my first contract. If things go as planned, and God forbid an injury or anything like that, I’ll just let the work do itself.” -via Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel / October 11, 2023
