LeBron James: 'I love who we have in the locker room'
To a follow-up on whether the Lakers need to make changes to contend, LeBron distanced himself from the front office. “It’s not a question for me,” he said. “I love who we have in the locker room. And that’s all I worry about. … I don’t get caught up in that. We’re gonna go out and prepare ourselves every single night no matter what it is. No matter who’s out on this team. No matter what. So it’s my job and it’s AD’s job, as the two captains, to make sure we keep the main thing the main thing. The main focus is now: Thursday’s game at home. And look forward to that matchup.”

LeBron James was asked twice about the trade deadline tonight.
Here are his two answers:
You guys went 4-2 on this trip. Do you feel like as a team you’ve proven or shown why you guys should continue to invest in this group?

In a span of four games, Jalen Johnson had to guard LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Kawhi Leonard and in the fourth game his end-game defense swung a game in which Steph Curry scored 60.
He had a bad night and, well, that happens.
Hawks won the other three. – 10:11 PM

No. 2 overall pick Brandon Miller (age 21), who’s played very well of late and scored 8 points in the 1st Q, just had his first chance to defend LeBron; James backed him under the hoop, waited for help to come, up-faked, and rose for a 7-foot J.
LAL up 10, time out Hornets. – 7:41 PM

More on this storyline
“I don’t want to see Bronny play with [LeBron]… Him getting drafted & playing with his dad, I don’t want that negativity to come his way. He doesn’t deserve it… [He needs to] play somewhere where he can niche out his own identity.” – Austin Rivers -via Twitter / February 6, 2024
ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, who has documented James’ career since high school, said the Lakers star was sending a message to the team’s management by draping a Knicks towel over his shoulders during a postgame television interview on Saturday night. “Obviously LeBron often wears towels and this is why it’s so brilliant because he has perfect deniability,” Windhorst said on his “Hoops Collective” podcast. “He can just be like, ‘Oh, I just put a towel around my shoulders. What are you talking about? You guys are out of your mind.’ But this is what LeBron excels at. He computes all this stuff. Of course, he was cognizant and aware he was putting on a towel that said New York Knicks. Why would he mess with the Knicks? Because he was using the Knicks as a tool to pressure the Lakers.” -via New York Post / February 6, 2024
“The Knicks are going to be very attractive going forward… The Knicks had to be an option going forward,” Windhorst said. “Whatever hatchet they may have buried, it’s almost like the Knicks need Klutch clients eventually whoever it is, it doesn’t have to be LeBron… Somebody is going to want to play in New York. Somebody is going to look at Jalen Brunson and say, ‘You know that wasn’t the worst decision in the world.’” -via New York Post / February 6, 2024
