Re: My Old Man (RIP, brown bread, goner etc)
Has he copied this or penned it himself, can anybody confirm if they’ve seen it before?
Anyway here it is-
Blue is our colour.
There’s only one team that makes me feel alive,
We were formed way back in 1875.
Small Heath Alliance was to be our first name,
The blue blood runs deep in every last vein.
We played at Muntz Street, Bordesley, then Sparkbrook,
And in 1906 the world started to look.
As we moved to St. Andrews, our then stunning new Home,
And finally settled, no more would we roam.
Forever a bluenose, we’re so proud to say,
Singing our hearts out on every match day.
Flying our flag, so high and proud,
And chanting with passion, so powerful and loud.
Emotions are strong and tears in the eye,
As they play our beloved Mr Bluesky.
Better watch out, be careful what you do,
‘Cos the boys in Blue are coming for you.
If we’re in the Kop or the Main Stand,
The Gil Merrick or Tilton, our support is on hand.
There’s only one team, that means so much to us,
As we destroy opposition, no bother, no fuss.
We were play off winners in 2002,
And 2nd Division champions 4 times.
I’m sure you all knew, 63 was our year,
And 2011 when we won the Carling Cup, showing no fear.
So many great players have passed through our team,
Like our legend Joe Bradford our goalscoring machine.
And of course Walter Abbott and Frank Womack too,
Not forgetting Maik Taylor to name but a few.
And what about gaffers, we’ve had our fair share,
They all did their best, ‘cos like us, they care.
Merrick and Beasley and Leslie Knighton,
Trevor and Bruce, they took our fight on.
Blue is our colour , for now and evermore,
We’re Birmingham City, you all know the score.
We feel right at home in our happy abode,
And we’ll keep right on, to the end of the road.
Mad fecker :D
