It’s a year late

Yeah he was a real mess by the end, struggled with addiction, homeless and in and out of nick through robbing. Sad end

I know it was only twenty-odd minutes and there are question marks over his fitness, attitude etc but what a bleedin' player he looked last night. I've no idea how effective he would actually be after a run of games but, given how toothless we look, I'd be willing to try building our forward play around him for a while. Am I just clutching at straws in the current depths of despair or do people think that he actually has something special that we could harness?

Only just opened this weeks Boxing News and saw this on the front cover. Had missed the news from a week ago.
Younger of the Booth brothers his problems with addiction were well publicised but gone way too young at 40. Always enjoyed watching him box in the early part of this century.

I've read some opinions about us perhaps not having the points we deserve from how we've played, some crucial decisions skewing our league position and even our pitch dimensions and firmness kyboshing our home form etc. I've found myself thinking similar thoughts but I've come to the painful conclusion that we're probably exactly where we deserve to be.

Whenever I question whether or not a team has about the number of points they deserve in the league, I usually have a look at goal difference as a reasonable predictor. Читать дальше...

Did we really not deserve to lose. Given that the highlights are normally biased in our favour l saw Preston score one, hit the inside of the post with one and an excellent one handed tip round the post from Etheridge. I didn't see any proper saves from their keeper, and l didn't see any near misses. I saw a few half chances from both teams.

On the evidence of the highlights we could have lost that 3-0 with no complaints.

Neither player is good enough to play the lone striker in my opinion. Personally i don't think Leko fits that role either. I think Karanka has to seriously think about playing Hogan and Juke together. Playing Bela and Sanchez as orthodox wingers. We've scored 18 goals all season.

If you have 2 up top then your only options for overall tactics are 442 or 532. Our midfield is not good enough to play as a 4 so that rules out 442. We have used 5 at the back at times but usually in a 541 when we go extremely defensive. We don't have the wing backs to play a back 5 effectively in an attacking way.

I said this in another thread for but I think the best balance would be a 433. The 3 man midfield would allow the wide men to stay higher up and get closer to the striker.... Читать дальше...

With this season wrote off.. with this 3 year plan how can turn this side into a promotion chasing team so where do we need to Improve and what positions I have
