The Marcelo Lippi talk was just before we appointed McLeish at the time Lippi had not long won the world cup. I suspect the attempt to get him was about as genuine as our bid for Maradona.
Agree that Bruce should have left after the Liverpool debacle. With hindsight being what it is, we should have let Bruce go to Newcastle in 2004 when they came in for him.
He was never the same manager for us after his great big head was turned.
….during the Dingles Scouse game ????

Doubt they will go up this year.
Burnley and Sheffield already look certs. Norwich, Watford and Swansea are much better sides.

For an unrelated matter I was down the touch line yesterday for a good 20 minutes watching the goalkeeper warm ups. In that time I knew we were absolutely doomed, I could see from all the face and body language of the keepers and Maik Taylor there was just no energy, no confidence and total apathy. It stinks to me of the dressing room being miserable and the morale rock bottom. If that isn’t fixed soon I reckon we’ll be on to even harder hidings than yesterday. Читать дальше...

Yeah, very fortunate that he wasn’t beaten by the first shot but very good reactions to correct his mistake
I'd like to ask those who proudly declared that formations and shape meant nothing in the Deeney thread if they think changing the shape at the start of the second had no bearing on the much better performance in the second half?
The change of shape worked wonders and we looked much better, imo.

Against a team bottom of league 1. I don’t think it’s a turning point and the 5 at the back formation worked excellently pre Christmas.
Somethings wrong but I don’t think formation is the be all and end all in the squad.

Congrats on the W; good luck in the next round vs. Blackburn! I'll be tuning in for the Man Utd Loan Derby on Saturday to see my boys Hannibal and Alvaro Fernandez face off; maybe I'll give you all a break and bother the PNE forum for that one ????????
Take care and have an enjoyable, safe rest of your evening, everyone.
