Re: EFL 112 Positive Covid 19
madWidening the criteria of key workers is barmy considering where we're at with the virus spreading
Apart from the fact that when you realise that some of the people pulling the levers have clearly decided a certain number of deaths baked in for the remaining part of winter - perhaps average 400 a day for the next 50 days - is to them an acceptable price to pay for making sure the UK is a couple of weeks in front of France/Germany when bouncing out of lockdown in late spring
To be fair, a vast amount of the new key workers will be working from home, literally all bar about 10 where I work are.
We don't send our eldest even though we're both classed as key workers so could.
Too many people send their kids when they don't need to.
My company (essential retail) sent key workers letters out to everyone, even those furloughed.
I see some people on Facebook in similar situations taking the piss and sending their kids in and not mentioning they're furloughed.
I've seen at least 1 person send their kids in using a friends letter!
Not easy to police but more checks need doing to confirm that
1. They are actually a valid key worker
2. That they are actually in work - not furloughed, or working 6 hours a week but using 5 days schooling!
Personally I think those working from home classed as key workers should only be entitled to a limited number of days in school too.
Also this time round it seems only 1 parent has to be a key worker! Back in March we were told both had to be if living together. Not sure when that rule changed as we've not applied anyway but seems bizzare if 1 parent is at home as to why they can't look after their own child but loads now using that loophole too.
My lads year bubble only had 3 kids in some days last year. Now there's at least double that every day.
