When NASCAR announced we'd be a new convoluted package at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway this year, a package that included restrictor plates and aero ducts near the grille area, I was incredibly skeptical that it would work. And honestly, why shouldn't I? I've heard this story from NASCAR before, that what they're trying will "enhance" the racing, only for it to royally bomb. This came across as just another attempt by the sanctioning body to save a race weekend at a track that never was and never will be suited for stock car racing.

We had way more speed when we were good through three and four and loose through one and two, but I got a little bit sideways coming off of one and I couldn’t put the throttle down like I needed to, and then I was probably just a little over-cautious on the entry to two because I didn’t want to miss that corner and keep stacking time up.
TEAM CHEVY POST QUALIFYING QUOTES: JAMIE MCMURRAY, NO. 1 CESSNA/MCDONALDS CHEVROLET SS: "Our cars have been so good this year with only having two hour-long practice sessions, you have to hope you unload really close, and they did a really good job. Ryan Reed drove his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford to a sixth-place finish Saturday afternoon at Indianapolis Motor Speedway in the Lilly Diabetes 250. The sixth-place finish is Reed’s best finish at the famed 2.5-mile track.
Recap: Joey Logano started 12th and finished third in the No. 22 Discount Tire Ford Mustang on Saturday afternoon in the Lilly Diabetes 250 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. When the race began, Logano reported that the handling of the Discount Tire Mustang was good everywhere except turn 1 where it lacked grip, and that he needed more speed on the long straights to contend with the race leaders.
Camry driver Matt Tifft (11th) had the top-finishing Toyota in Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Kyle Busch’s Camry led a race-high 44 laps (of 100) on the 2.5-mile speedway before finishing 12th.

I was kind of in the hunt there with the 9, but just didn’t have a fast enough car to hang with him. The handling kind of fell off there at the end as well. It’s interesting because you can trim it out and try to go fast and then handling comes into play, but it seemed like the 9 had a little bit of both."
