Ryan Reed was having a solid run Saturday afternoon at Iowa Speedway until a vibration developed following a routine mid-race pit stop. Reed tried to hold out for a caution, but had to pit under green for the loose wheel. The loose wheel took away a top-10 finish for Reed. Despite the setback, Reed held on to earn a 21st-place finish in the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford.
Top-10 Run Spoiled by Cut Tire for the RTP / Rheem Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway "This RTP / Rheem Camaro was really, really good on long runs all weekend. We fired off from our 13th-place qualifying effort and made our way into the top-10 by the end of that first stage. Randall (Burnett, crew chief) and the pit crew adjusted on this Chevy and we were able to race into the top-five at the halfway point."
A blown tire ended Garrett Smithley’s race early Saturday. Smithley’s Flex Shot Chevrolet blew a right front tire in turn two, forcing him to the garage on lap 240 of 254. He completed 218 laps and finished 35th.
Harrison Rhodes moved through the field to score a 15th-place finish in Saturday’s U.S. Cellular 250 Xfinity Series race at Iowa Speedway. The run was Rhodes’ second-best of the season.
