Facebook’s built-in camera does GIFs now

Facebook has been building out the camera in its main app for a while now, and today is adding a new GIF function. As first spotted by The Next Web, you can access the feature by tapping the camera icon in the top left of the app. Just swipe right to start making quick GIFs.

Everyone seems to hate the new Skype

Microsoft’s radical redesign of Skype isn’t going down well. While Android users have had access to the new Skype design for a month, the refresh only debuted on iPhone a couple of weeks ago. Ratings of the Skype app on Apple’s App Store have plummeted worldwide since the new Skype launched. In the UK App Store Skype is now rated at just 1 star, while ratings have fallen from 3.5 stars in the US to just 1.5 stars. Disney offers a first look at Star Wars land

Disney has finally given a first glimpse into its highly anticipated Star Wars lands currently being built in California and Florida, unveiling a 50-foot wide 3D model of the area that will eventually cover about 14 acres. The Star Wars-themed attractions are due to open in 2019 at Disneyland in Anaheim, and at Disney’s Hollywood Studios at Disney World in Orlando.

Former DC staffer charged for distributing nude photos of sitting Congresswoman

Two former employees of a sitting member of the US House of Representatives were indicted today in a cyberstalking case, according to the Department of Justice. Juan R. McCullum was indicted on two counts of cyberstalking after he allegedly distributed nude images and videos of his former boss, while his fellow former co-worker Dorene Browne-Louis was indicted on two counts of obstruction of justice for deleting messages from McCullum and giving false statements to law enforcement. Gold, lasers, and antifreeze help reanimate deep-frozen fish

The Verge 

Using a combination of lasers, gold particles, and antifreeze, scientists have successfully reanimated frozen zebrafish embryos. This new technique could one day help biologists bank the embryos of species at risk for extinction or preserve the genetically modified fish that scientists use to study human diseases. But first, researchers have to make sure more of the embryos can actually survive this new process.

US Customs says it can’t search cloud data at the border

Customs and Border Protection can’t search travelers’ cloud data at the border, according to a new statement by acting commissioner Kevin McAleenan that was obtained by NBC News. The statement was provided in advance of McAleenan’s Senate confirmation hearing, in response to a set of questions by Sen. Ron Wyden (D-OR).
