More customers in the US are buying the iPhone 7 than the iPhone 8, according to a new report from KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst John Vinh (via Reuters).

Netflix has had a run of strong earnings over the last year, driven by better-than-expected subscriber gains and relatively consistent profit. Investors like what they see, and the company’s stock has steadily climbed, closing today at an all-time high of $202 a share. But the company has also been forced to borrow large sums to cover the ever-growing costs of its original content.

Keyssa, a startup specializing in wireless data transmission that is backed by Nest co-founder Tony Fadell, has filed a lawsuit against Android phone maker Essential, according to a report from Reuters. Microsoft has been gradually improving its Xbox One dashboard to make the experience a lot faster to use. While the original Xbox One launched with Kinect and voice controls, much of the navigation with a controller was slow and clunky. Microsoft started addressing some of those performance issues with some updates earlier this year, but today’s Xbox One dashboard goes a step further.

Netflix has perfected its algorithms on me. A week ago, I was feeling dismal about my show selection, after bingeing every season of Mad Men and House of Cards. I found myself watching Lucy Liu star in Code Name: The Cleaner, a diverse yet cheesy flick where Liu doesn’t get to do much but look pretty and say sassy lines. So I started rewatching parts of the Minions movie, hoping someone had miraculously translated and subtitled King Bob’s speech from Minionese to English.

Honeywell, a multinational conglomerate founded 111 years ago that currently has 132,000 employees and a market capitalization of over $109 billion, is today announcing that it would like you to preorder its next product on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo. The new product is a DIY home security system that buyers will be able to install and monitor on their own, instead of relying on professional monitoring and installation, as with past Honeywell products.

Google Photos has announced that it can now detect photos of your pet, automatically grouping them together the way it does with people. This means you will no longer have to type in words like “dog” or “cat,” as the algorithm will sort them for you.

Like most based-on-a-true-story biographical films, Angela Robinson’s Professor Marston and the Wonder Women is only loosely connected to actual events. Psychology professor William Moulton Marston (played by Luke Evans in the film) did create the comic book character Wonder Woman, and he did live in a polyamorous relationship with his wife Elizabeth Marston (Rebecca Hall) and their grad student Olive Byrne (Bella Heathcote). Everything else in the movie, though, is up for grabs.

Once again, scientists have detected gravitational waves — ripples in the fabric of space and time created by objects moving throughout the Universe. And this time, the celestial signal stems from a never-before-seen event: the merger of two neutron stars. In contrast to past observations of gravitational waves, the event was also detectable by regular light telescopes, giving scientists unprecedented insight into this cosmic collision.

Technology companies are starting to respond to a new Wi-Fi exploit affecting all modern Wi-Fi networks using WPA or WPA 2 encryption. The security vulnerabilities allow attackers to read Wi-Fi traffic between devices and wireless access points, and in some cases even modify it to inject malware into websites. Security researchers claim devices running macOS, Windows, iOS, Android, and Linux will be affected by the vulnerabilities.

The original Pi-Top was a modular laptop powered by a Raspberry Pi that came out on Indiegogo back in 2014. Now, the company (also called Pi-Top) is back with an updated version of the laptop that looks to improve on the original in a couple of key ways, via Engadget.

The first full trailer for Marvel’s Black Panther is here, and it gives us a better look at the world of Wakanda, where T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) is the newly crowned king. In the trailer, we see Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan), as he attempts to dethrone the Black Panther, plus lots of slow-motion, aerial views, and tight spandex. Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o) reminds the Black Panther, “You get to decide what kind of king you are going to be.”

The hamdog, the ingenious hamburger / hot dog hybrid made the rounds last year when Australian entrepreneur Mark Murray announced he was looking for participants to invest in the franchise to sell his patented hamdogs around the globe. Now Mark plans to open up the first ever hamdog restaurant in the heart of midtown Manhattan.
