Lifx has released a new version of its Lifx Z light strip starter kit, with one key addition: it now supports Apple’s HomeKit smart home system. The updated Lifx Z also still supports Alexa and Google Assistant, so you’ll be set, no matter which tribe of smart home gear you pledge allegiance to.

Fossil today announced a new smartwatch in its Q line called the Q Control that comes with a touchscreen bezel that allows for quick scrolling through the device’s interface. Running Android Wear, the Q Control comes with a 45mm, water resistant circular case and 20mm watchband, as well as a heart rate sensor. The design is relatively minimalistic, with just a single button on the side of the watch face.

Scientists in the US have attempted to edit a person’s DNA inside his own body, permanently altering his genetic code, according to The Associated Press. It will take at least a month, and as long as three, to know if the edit took. If it works, that may boost the development of gene therapies, which tinker with genes in order to treat or prevent diseases.

One of the most popular uses of digital assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant is to turn on and off lights. So why not just save a step in that process and build a digital assistant directly into a table or floor lamp?

A new tech startup called Stitched Products has introduced a new lineup of iPhone cases that remove unwanted lint and debris. Not only is the case supposed to keep dust off your phone, it’s also marketed to be a lint roller on the go for when your black clothes get those white specks all over them. In a Kickstarter video, you can see Stitched’s CEO Charles Shalhoub rub his case all over his black shirt to remove the lint.

Two weeks after a Los Angeles Times report detailed multiple allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment against director and producer Brett Ratner, the filmmaker seems to have been officially cut from the DC cinematic universe. This morning on Good Morning America, Gal Gadot reiterated earlier reports that Ratner’s financing company RatPac-Dune Entertainment, which helped fund 2017’s Wonder Woman, would not be involved with the upcoming sequel.

Swiss company Geneva Labs has added a new Bluetooth speaker to its Touring lineup, which are categorized by size. The Touring/xS is the latest to join the Touring/S, Touring/M, and Touring/L, and shares most of their features. It has 20 hours of battery life, just like the S size, but no FM radio functionality.

The video, posted to YouTube in September, was innocuous enough. Part of a regularly updated series, it showed two young girls, seemingly about nine years old, practicing gymnastics. The 10-minute clip, filmed by an adult, was the kind of low-fidelity, homemade footage that YouTube was built on.

An app called MakeApp on iOS and Android recently gained attention from beauty and fashion sites for claiming to remove makeup from women’s faces. Sites like Teen Vogue and Pop Sugar called out the app for being problematic and creepy, but its lesser-known function is to double up as a Zombify app.

Walmart is taking a bit of an nontraditional approach to boost sales ahead of Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping events by raising prices for products sold online and discounting those same items in physical retail stores. Amazon Go is a convenience store in Seattle. NBC is teaming up with Sleepy Hollow showrunner Albert Kim to create a family drama with a nearly all-Asian cast, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The drama is roughly based on companies like Samsung that are run by single families, which often erupt in turmoil when a new heir must be picked. Multiple networks had their eyes on Kim’s untitled drama, but NBC ultimately won the bidding war.

I’ve been biting my nails ever since I can remember. I do it automatically, without even realizing it: I’m focused on writing a story, and before I know it, my finger is in my mouth and I’m greedily chewing a nail or a cuticle. Tomorrow night, SpaceX will launch perhaps its most secretive payload yet: a classified government satellite built by defense contractor Northrop Grumman. The purpose of the mission, codenamed Zuma, is essentially unknown. It’s unclear what kind of spacecraft is going up, or which government agency the launch is for.
