Amazon launched Prime Music and Alexa in Canada today, along with three devices that support the voice assistant: the Echo, Echo Plus, and Echo Dot. Amazon says Alexa will speak English with a Canadian accent and have local knowledge and local skills — Alexa's voice-activated apps — made by Canadian developers. Amazon anticipates 10,000 skills will be available for Canadian customers this year, including skills from Air Canada, CBC, the Weather Network, TD Bank, and Bank of Montreal.

Moment, the company known for its cases and detachable lenses for mobile phones, is releasing two of its costly yet beloved cases for the iPhone X. The Photo Case and Battery Photo Case both contain mounts that allow Moment's lenses to be attached. The Battery Photo Case can juice your phone up to 90 percent and also features a shutter button that connects to your phone via the Moment app or the default camera app.

Did you know that the charging case Apple ships with its AirPods makes for a surprisingly useful iPhone stand? Well, it does. The trick was revealed on Twitter by Omar Elfanek, developer of Tidings:

When it comes to gaming competition with friends, most of us grew up playing games like Pokémon, battling with friends through Game Boys and old link cables, and mostly using our imagination when the gameplay animation was still pretty basic. Fast-forward a few decades, and you can still battle friends, but the modes have expanded incredibly. The latest form is a gaming robot from Reach Robotics. OnePlus has a glaring smartphone security problem the company says it plans to fix in an upcoming software update. Just this week, a bit of fan sleuthing surfaced a flaw ostensibly due to oversight that meant that, over the past couple of years, OnePlus phones (including the recently released OnePlus 5) have carried a Qualcomm testing app called EngineerMode.

Android phone maker Essential is the latest manufacturer to open beta access to Android Oreo for its namesake smartphone. The company says eager participants can go download the latest Android OS refresh from its website by heading over to its developer portal. You don’t need to be a registered mobile developer; any interested Essential owner can put Oreo on their device so long as they’re comfortable using beta software that still may suffer the occasional bug.

Razer’s latest mechanical keyboard just might be able to survive spilled drinks. The new BlackWidow Ultimate gaming keyboard is now water and dust resistant with an IP54 rating, the company says.
