Jaylen Brown’s scoring average has dropped. He has handed out fewer assists per game. Never mind. He will not judge himself based on counting stats. He believes he is now seeing the game differently. He believes his improvements will pay off not just for him, but for his team. “I feel like on both sides of the ball,” Brown told The Athletic on Wednesday after practice, “I’m playing the best basketball of my life.”

We are two months away from the trade deadline and we are starting to get an idea of which players could hit the markets and getting to the point where teams should know whether to stay the course or change direction. This year, outgoing draft picks in the upcoming draft could be a bigger factor than usual. As of now, nine 2024 first-round picks are projected to change hands with four of them currently projected in the lottery.

Several reports state that the Bulls are open to moving Zach LaVine and other veterans, like DeMar DeRozan. The Athletic reported that the Knicks would be a desired landing spot for DeRozan. This makes sense as DeRozan also strongly considered signing with New York in the 2021 offseason. But as of earlier this week, the Knicks hadn’t engaged in any advanced talks with Chicago on any of their players, per SNY sources.

What about Detroit and Bojan Bogdanovic? The Knicks were among the teams who talked to Detroit about potential Bogdanovic trades in the past, but I don’t think anything is imminent there. Detroit has no immediate plans to trade Bogdanovic, according to people familiar with the organization’s thinking. The hope is that a healthy Bogdanovic can help Detroit win some games, according to those people. Detroit is 2-18 and has lost 17 straight games.

Bulls guard Zach LaVine will miss an additional three to four weeks with right foot inflammation, the team announced Wednesday night following a 111-100 victory over the Charlotte Hornets.
