Josh Richardson on flopping calls being made by referees: I think it's terrible

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

It has reached the point where Josh Richardson no longer can take it falling down. “I don’t know,” he said of becoming a flopping focus. “I’m not usually one to worry about refs or comment on refs. But I think all three of my flopping calls were terrible. I think that they’re just not doing a very good job of being realistic.”

RJ Barrett addresses Knicks' trade rumors

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

As the NBA world awaits and compels the Knicks to raise their “middle” ceiling with a blockbuster trade, RJ Barrett seems comfortable with being doubted. “First, we were never going to be good. Now, we’re good, and now, we’re not good enough,” the forward said. “I think we do, for not having the best player, we do very well for ourselves.”

Pistons will only agree to trade Bojan Bogdanovic if there's a 'large offer'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The Detroit Pistons, owners of the NBA’s worst record and an 18-game losing streak, have expressed that it would take a large offer to acquire 20-point scorer Bojan Bogdanović, league sources said. The situation with Bogdanović is akin to the one with Jerami Grant from a couple of seasons ago, when Grant had two years remaining on his contract and Detroit held onto him despite its losing record. The Pistons eventually flipped Grant for a late first-round pick once the rangy forward was in the final year of his deal. Читать дальше...

Knicks no longer interested in Karl-Anthony Towns?

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

The Knicks checked in on Karl-Anthony Towns earlier this season, but they never made an offer for the three-time All-Star, league sources tell The Athletic. The Knicks’ new senior vice president of basketball operations Gersson Rosas overlapped with Towns from 2019 to 2021 when Rosas ran the Timberwolves. Towns is also a client of CAA, where Knicks president Leon Rose once ran the basketball division. Executive vice president of basketball operations William Wesley followed Rose from CAA to the Knicks, as well. Ben Simmons moves to next step of back rehab

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Nets point guard Ben Simmons has started feeling positive effects from the epidural he had in his back and has moved to the next phase of his rehab. “He’s looking at, I think, in the matter of days to weeks, as opposed to weeks to months,” Simmons’ agent, Bernie Lee, told The Post. Simmons, who hasn’t played since Nov. 6 and got the shot a little over a week ago, is doing aqua jogging — running in water. He’s working toward on-court activity.

Jaylen Brown ejected for first time in his career, blasts ‘overemotional ref’

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Jaylen Brown was ejected for the first time in his NBA career Friday night. The Boston Celtics star believes it never should have happened. Brown picked up a technical foul for arguing a call in the fourth quarter against the New York Knicks in Boston, then was ejected after picking up a second T when he went to the bench shortly afterward. The Celtics won 133-123, but that did little to ease the emotions of Brown and Boston coach Joe Mazzulla after the game. “To be honest, I’m not sure,” Brown told reporters when asked why he was tossed. Knicks pursued OG Anunoby last winter

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Maybe the most common question asked around the league is: What do the Toronto Raptors do? Toronto has three consequential players — Pascal Siakam, OG Anunoby and Gary Trent Jr. — on expiring deals and is treading around .500 for the second consecutive season. The Knicks made a play for Anunoby last winter, league sources said, but Toronto never engaged in serious discussions to trade away the two-way stud. Anunoby made his first-ever NBA All-Defense team in 2022-23 and should be headed for another... Читать дальше...

Kyrie Irving suffers right leg injury, will get MRI

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving left in the second quarter of Friday night’s game against the Portland Trail Blazers after teammate Dwight Powell took a hard fall on Irving’s right foot. Head coach Jason Kidd did not have further details about Irving’s injury after the Mavs’ 125-112 win, saying only that they would know more Saturday. The injury occurred after Irving was fouled on a drive to the basket with 3:51 left in the half. As Irving fell to the ground, Powell leaped for the loose ball and took an awkward fall backward... Jalen Brunson injured in garbage time in loss to Celtics

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Jalen Brunson was injured when his team had no chance to win. The point guard twisted his ankle with about 20 seconds remaining and his Knicks down 12, leaving Friday’s 133-123 defeat with a limp and bolting from the locker room before speaking to reporters. Tom Thibodeau, known for riding his starters deep into garbage time, said he didn’t regret keeping Brunson in the game. “Nope,” the coach said. He didn’t elaborate on that decision or the severity of Brunson’s injury. “I haven’t talked to the trainers yet,” he said. Читать дальше...
