Gordon Hayward on LaMelo Ball: 'His efficiency from three has opened up his whole game'
What have you seen from LaMelo Ball’s development in his game that’s allowed him to play arguably at an All-NBA level this year? Gordon Hayward: The way he was hitting his threes really opened up his game because it makes teams have to respect it. Now he can drive and get in the lane where he can make plays and finish around the rim. His efficiency from three has opened up his whole game.

Feels like Charlotte need to find Hayward when things slow down into the half court again. He had it going in the 2nd quarter but has been quiet this half – 6:58 PM

Big second quarter for Gordon Hayward, he’s up to a team high 15 points. He’s struggled as of late, but he’s found something so far tonight – 6:01 PM

#Hornets Insider: Miles Bridges isn’t surprised by his fast start, but his teammates and coaches are.
Also checked in with Gordon Hayward, Bryce McGowens and Nick Smith Jr. to gauge where they each are at the moment.

Checking in on the Hornets, and Terry Rozier really doin a lot of playmaking-for-others things. He was really impressive in this one — had 37, including the game-sealing bucket, and the 13 assists were all night.
I’d assume NAW takes the Rozier matchup tonight. But Hayward needs… pic.twitter.com/XZKVV9n9ZA – 9:16 AM

More on this storyline
Gordon Hayward on Hornets: ’We’ve had a lot of talent the whole time I’ve been here. We just haven’t been able to put it together’ Is this the most talented Hornets team you’ve been a part of in Charlotte? Gordon Hayward: Yeah, certainly in Charlotte. This is my fourth year. We’ve had a lot of talent the whole time I’ve been here. We just haven’t been able to put it together. We’ve also had injuries to key guys, which is hard to deal with, but certainly, we have a lot of guys that can score and a lot of guys that can do a lot of different things. We’re definitely talented. -via HoopsHype / December 4, 2023
What’s allowed Mark Williams to take a step forward this season? Gordon Hayward: He’s really come along. He’s got a great feel for the game. In Utah, you could see the same thing with Rudy Gobert. Initially, he’s young and kind of like Bambi out there, but you can’t teach that defensive feel where they have good timing and know when to help or when to play cat and mouse. Offensively, he’s got great hands and catches just about everything. He’s still going to get better and has a ways to go, but I think he’s definitely taken a step, and he’s certainly got a bright future. -via HoopsHype / December 4, 2023
Brandon Miller’s been compared to Paul George a lot. What do you see in his game? Gordon Hayward: I think the thing that impressed me the most about him was his poise in the pocket, especially with the ball in his hands, not only making plays for himself but being able to see over the defense. In practice, he makes passes across the court. That’s stuff that usually takes time to develop. A lot of guys can play with the ball and score. That’s how they get to the NBA, but that’s what has impressed me about him. He should be All-NBA if he wants to be because of his length, size, quickness, and instincts. He obviously has a bright future. -via HoopsHype / December 4, 2023
The Charlotte Hornets announced today that further evaluation on guard LaMelo Ball revealed he suffered a right ankle sprain on Sunday, November 26 against Orlando. The injury was confirmed by an MRI and Ball will be reevaluated in one week. Updates on his status will be provided as appropriate. -via NBA.com / November 30, 2023
Spencer Percy: Source: LaMelo Ball had a CT scan last night to check the hardware that was placed into his right ankle during surgery in February. MRI followed today, which confirmed the sprain diagnosis — medial ankle sprain, specifically. He’s likely to miss at least 4 weeks. -via Twitter @QCHspencer / November 28, 2023
Shams Charania: Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball has suffered a serious sprain in his right ankle and is likely to miss extended time, sources tell @TheAthletic @Stadium. Tests show Ball avoided a fracture in the ankle, which required surgery last season, and a cautious approach is expected. pic.twitter.com/kciSB72aw9 -via Twitter @ShamsCharania / November 28, 2023
