Victor Wembanyama likely a game-time decision vs. Jazz
Spurs rookie star Victor Wembanyama likely will be a game-time decision for Tuesday night’s home outing against Utah after suffering a sprained right ankle in a freak pre-game accident before Saturday’s game at Dallas. Wembanyama participated in shootaround Tuesday morning after sitting out the 144-119 loss to the Mavericks after he stepped on a ball boy’s foot while warming up.

It’s a good sign Victor Wembanyama participated in shootaround, but I’ve been told his status for tonight vs. Utah will likely be a game-time decision.
The plan is to work him out shortly after he arrives at Frost Bank Center to see how his ankle feels.

As one half of the first French duo to be top-20 picks in the NBA Draft, along with No. 1 selection Victor Wembanyama, Bilal Coulibaly says he was often asked throughout the draft process last summer about basketball in his country. In addition to Coulibaly and Wembanyama, two others from France were also drafted (Rayan Rupert and Sidy Cissoko) plus another (Malcolm Cazalon) has debuted this season after going undrafted. Five rookies from France is a record for the country, which already boasts the most NBA players in the league’s history outside of North America. Joel Embiid: Not trying to be too critical. Obviously, extremely talented. Right now, there’s so much hype around him, I think he’s trying to live up to the hype. That’s what I see. And I watch a lot of games. I think, first of all, he has to figure out where he wants to play, whether he wants to be a guard or a big or whatever. It’s not necessarily whether he wants to be a guard or a big; it’s what he wants to become. Do you want to become KD, or do you want to become me? Not KD, or like a version of those guys — you want to combine everything. Right now, I just feel like everything kind of feels a little forced, in the way that he’s playing. Which is not bad.
