Thinking of doing this. Undertaken some research and can see there are pros and cons. Lots of colleagues seem to be going down this route too. Would probably take cash transfer then pursue an income drawdown scheme rather than an annuity. Know I would need to employ a financial adviser which makes me a bit nervous - who to choose, cost etc.
Anybody done this recently? Any tips or real drawbacks to be wary about?
Thanks all. Yes, know I'm obliged to take advice and would most probably talk to three different advisers as I understand there are a range of approaches to charges to consider as well. My simplistic take on the figures at this stage is that it's worth exploring further. Was always told that taking on a mortgage was the biggest financial decision I would make but this feels far more testing!

If your pot is worth more than £30k you legally have to take advice anyway. I have looked at taking mine recently and as the scheme is in deficit they are offering about 20% less than is actually in my pot - guess i will stay in.
