I live about half hour from Llandudno. Vibrant, well-kept town that punches above its weight. As with most of north Wales though, there is a slightly scummy underbelly, but much less so than the likes of Colwyn and, of course, Rhyl. The local council seem piss-takingly hopeless and, worse still, there are lots of Scousers. The mad bloke from Kings Heath (the chap with the radio and the push-chair) now lives there, so might help you to feel at home! :-)
