Here's Noel Blake's goal. First time I've ever seen footage of this. Just look at that crowd! I'm right in the middle of the Kop somewhere, the most unbelievable atmosphere I've ever experienced at St Andrew's. Officially 43,864 there. In truth, probably closer to 50,000. Your feet could barely touch the floor it was that rammed. I'd love to find footage of the goals in the second half by Handysides and Ferguson, but it's great to finally see this one again.

You're not alone.
I can't not support 'em, but I can't find myself caring much anymore. It can't because they are shit, coz Blues are shit and I still have a knotted viscera when Blues play even the most meaningless game.....I don't just want Blues to win every game, I believe with every fibre in my feeble, decrepit old body, that they will win. It means that much.
I watch every England game now with a feeling of semi detached ennui......imagine feeling that way about Blues? Of course not, it's not possible. Читать дальше...

I'm not saying losing to Iceland is acceptable but they're clearly not the minnows they usually are at the moment.
They held eventual winners Portugal in the group stage of the Euros and are about to top a group containing Croatia, Ukraine, and Turkey so they're no mugs.

Teams tend to reflect their managers personality. Hence England are shite.
A friend and I, on the eve of the Auto Windscreen Final in '95, were in a seedy club in Soho and were invited to pay £200 for a bottle of champagne, which also entitled us to the 'company' of the hostess. We were fairly drunk but not drunk enough to pay £200 for a bottle of champagne.
Added to that, the hostess looked unnervingly like Buddy Holly. After the plane had crashed.
Used to wait with us for the Sports Argos to come at 6 o clock down the Cov rd (which was unbelievable when we was away)

I rate Stones and think that he gets unfair criticism. He isn't a fantastic defender but he is good enough and at international level you need players who can bring the ball out of defence. Just because he is good with the ball at his feet, people assume he can't defend. he makes no more mistakes than Cahill.
Barkley should be starting ahead of Henderson

Unfortunately Keep Right On has morphed into a rushed load of shouting and hand clapping with multiple changes of tempo and sung (shouted) with several key changes that just sound awful. The ending especially with the shouted "drea-min-of" is dire. It starts well but in my view fails to deliver due to the horrendous dischords. If it was sung at a slower tempo then the high notes at the end would be achievable and the crescendo of "dreaming of" would properly bring out the majesty of this battle song.

Interesting comment, though Gerrard was a phenomenal player from when he first emerged. If anything (Benitez apart) staying at Liverpool meant he didn’t fully achieve what he might have done.
