Baggies

Small Heath Alliance

Watching the first 20 minutes of the game v Coventry and they’re looking a totally different team to the one we beat earlier in the season.
Pressing all over the pitch, full of energy and playing with a high tempo. In fact the exact opposite of how we play!
Not looking forward to next week. It’s amazing what a decent coach can do with a team.

can we just ban coldplay and radiohead songs anyway.

A very good mate is the drummer in a well known Midlands based Coldplay tribute.

Plenty of gigs but shite he must be bored. Excellent drummer too

Re: Phil Summerill

Blueshark

Great respect to Phil. One of our own from Erdington. Always had time for a chat and autograph when I cycled to Damson Lane to watch Blues train in the late sixties. A top wide attacker in todays terms, who certainly knew where the goal was.

I remember the 17 second goal against Watford like it was yesterday ( I can’t remember what I had for breakfast these days). Blues kicked off and Pickering played it back to Robinson who hoofed it into Watford territory. Watford won possession... Читать дальше...

Yes that's cold. People over here do not know what cold weather is.

A memory Question from 1995 (2 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Watched a Big Match on You Tube the other day. Main match QPR v Sunderland (start of 76/7 season) and Barry Siddall was in goal for Sunderland. Wondered whatever happened to him only to find out that we were his last league club. Signed by Barry Fry on transfer deadline day in 1995. His stats show he never played for the first team but anyone know whether he ever turned out for the reserves or why we signed a 40 year old goal keeper that year? Was there a goal keeping crisis?

I have no recollection of us signing him. Читать дальше...

Last I recall of Siddall was when he played against us for Chester in April 1992 when they used Macclesfield's Moss Rose ground. He seemed ancient then, and I remember he made a horrific last minute mistake to gift Nigel Gleghorn the winner.

Wickedly Cold

Good god its minus 45 degrees celsius over here in North Bay, Ontario. God I miss Brum so much right now.

Newcastle come in for Jude now. Let the bidding war commence but the worry is if we get a good amount of sell on money do we really want these faceless dishonest owners get their hands on the money. Should we be happier for Jude to do another year at Dortmund and hopefully these current owners will be gone and the sell on money will go to proper honest owners then, if the ownership situation has been sorted of course, which I very much doubt unfortunately.

On the verge of being taken over by a 20 year old, fair play to him if he makes a success of it

Bit of a last minute decision, I'm thinking about getting a ticket for tomorrows match but I don't fancy driving there, are any coaches going, I know the club coaches are sold out , will the trains be reliable after today's strike? Any help appreciated.

Virgin again (15 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Has anyone else just had the letter from Virgin about cost rises? They’ve just informed me my package is increasing £12 per month (ie about 16%) and that in future all increases will be at the same time and will be RPI plus 3.9% (as the letter says, if inflation falls to 0% then the increase will be 3.9%):

I can’t fathom how they think this is sound business practice, it just seems completely indefensible (they say the initial rise is due to cost increase like energy but that’s it). Still... Читать дальше...

Re: Virgin again

A neighbour, 89, foolishly let a Virgin contract expire and only realised when the monthly cost had more than doubled to £125. Virgin were planning to bill a further £40 for a replacement box on the next monthly bill when they transferred to Sky for £45. Shysters.
