Our nickname
Adjective - of a colour intermediate between green and violet, as of the sky or sea on a sunny day.
Noun - feelings of melancholy, sadness, or depression.
I've had a look through the other 92 clubs and it appears that it's only us, Liverpool, Burnley, Coventry, and Accrington with a single official nickname based 100% on our home kit colours.
There are plenty of other clubs who call themselves the reds, blues, yellows, whites etc.
But they also have at least one other nickname.
Many of the clubs have a nickname that pays homage to something in that town or city.
Others are just a random animal or object.
Some clubs even had old nicknames that they have since ditched.
I was just curious why we settled on 'Blues' and didn't add anything else.
Was there anything else we used to call ourselves decades or centuries ago?
