That saga ended with Irving receiving a suspension from the Nets that eventually lasted eight games and, among other things, issuing an apology to the Jewish community for circulating a documentary that “contained some false, anti-Semitic statements.” The Athletic’s Sam Amick noted in a podcast published Tuesday that Irving recently deleted said apology as his demanded trade from the Nets to the Mavericks materialized. The fact that Irving did so quietly makes it hard to judge his intent, but... Читать дальше...
Adrian Wojnarowski: Kevin Durant had interest in a deal to the Suns over the summer, but so far the Nets haven’t shown a willingness to move him to Phoenix or anywhere else, sources tell ESPN. There have been a number of teams reaching out to Brooklyn on Durant.

Drew Hill: Ja Morant believes the Grizz are the most hated team in the NBA. “We are, you see it on social media. Anything that has to do with the Grizzlies is front line national television and national people putting it out. Anything else, it don’t be said.”

Sometimes it’s trading for a rotational piece. Other times it’s acquiring a legit starter. And other times still it was trading for heavily protected second-round picks that will never covey just to open up roster spots with which to attack the buyout market.

There has been no indication a Kevin Durant trade request is coming soon. And until that day comes, the Nets, as they did last offseason — even after Durant asked to be moved elsewhere — will continue to try and upgrade Brooklyn’s supporting cast around their MVP candidate.

Several opposing executives have since labeled Fred VanVleet as the most likely Raptor to be traded ahead of Thursday’s deadline. A pair of Western Conference contenders in the Los Angeles Clippers and the Phoenix Suns have been often mentioned as VanVleet suitors. The Lakers, Magic and Timberwolves have also registered interest in VanVleet, sources said. VanVleet is expected to decline his $22 million option for the 2023-24 season in search of a pay raise that approaches a maximum salary and certainly north of $30 million. Читать дальше...
In Miami, after initial resistance to the idea of moving Kyle Lowry, the Heat are said to be willing to part with the 36-year-old point guard, league sources told Yahoo Sports. Lowry has missed multiple games this season due to lingering left knee soreness. Lowry’s efficiency has also declined as he’s connecting on just 33.3% of his triples — the worst mark of his career since the 2009-10 campaign. Finding a deal structure that benefits both Miami and any trade partner, while Lowry is still owed $29.6 million next season... Читать дальше...
The Hawks have held firm Atlanta won’t just trade John Collins for the sake of trading him, sources said, and will only part with the 25-year-old forward in a deal that brings back equal value. Collins is in the second season of a five-year, $125 million contract, with that final year a player option for the 2025-26 campaign.

Rozier’s name has been mentioned in various concepts, particularly with the Lakers and Timberwolves, and Hornets forward PJ Washington has his share of interested teams, such as the Miami Heat, sources said, after Charlotte did not find an extension for the 24-year-old this past fall. However, the Hornets have been averse to significant midseason deals in recent seasons.

Either way, ESPN’s Zach Lowe said on the Hoop Collective podcast Monday (7:30 mark) that he believes people around the NBA would be surprised if Durant was traded before the Feb. 9 deadline this season: “I’ve been saying since the James Harden trade [last season] that it just feels like the inevitable end of this is that [Durant] asks for a trade a second time, having already done it for the first time. I just don’t know how likely that is, or when it would happen. Around the league, I think there would be some surprise—even within the Nets... Читать дальше...

LeBron James is still performing at a superstar-like level at 38-years old. The Los Angeles Lakers’ superstar recently admitted in an interview with ESPN’s Michael Wilbon that his incredible play surprises himself. “I would say I do,” LeBron responded when asked whether or not he surprises himself with his play at 38-years old. “I’m running pass 21-year-olds, jumping higher than 23-year olds. I feel real good on how I’m playing the game not only physically but more importantly mentally. I’m just... Читать дальше...
CJ Holmes: I asked Klay Thompson if he thinks he deserved to be an All-Star this season. “No” was his response, simply because of Golden State’s record, but said he’ll be an All-Star again before it’s all said and done. Added that he plans on continuing to show up when it matters most.

On his show “Undisputed” Monday, Sharpe chided the Morant about his friends and trying to put forth a harder image than what he is as an All-Star basketball player and one of the NBA’s bright young stars. “I wish Ja would realize he’s not a thug. Ja is a really good basketball player. Ja did everything he could to lift himself and his family out of this environment and to get away from this,” Sharpe said. “And for some reason, he wants to surround himself with these types of people. Why? Bruh, you not hard. Читать дальше...
