Jonas Valanciunas on Pelicans: 'I want to stay longer there'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

Thanks to a previous two-year extension tacked onto the final year of the previous term, he is eligible to sign a new deal. Although the pricey contracts of Williamson, Ingram and veteran guard C.J. McCollum, make another agreement near or above Valančiūnas’ current $15 million salary a complicated calculus for Griffin’s front office. “It was a great feeling being the No. 1 seed [in December]. That’s a big accomplishment,” Valančiūnas said. “I want to come back to that. And I want to stay longer there. Читать дальше...

Ben Simmons: 'I feel I'm at 100 percent now'

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

How would you say your health is, at this point? How is your back? Ben Simmons: I don’t think people realize how bad it was in terms of physically how I was feeling and what I was able to do on the floor. Being able to sit down now and not have to lean or slouch one way, it’s kind of crazy for me. But I feel I’m at 100% now. Right now, I’m just building back to where I’m playing. I haven’t played in a while. Just taking hits and getting my body used to that.

And that’s what I want to do next year. Have you told Australian basketball officials of these hopes? Ben Simmons: I’ll let you break the news. I want to play. That’s the other thing. During the offseason, Fournier revealed that his emotions went even to levels of anger and “hatred” during what he experienced during his 11th NBA campaign, saying that he has absolutely no relationship with Thibodeau. He expressed optimism on being traded but such a thing hasn’t happened so far. Fournier obviously can’t handle a second consecutive campaign like that and being unhappy again because he doesn’t play basketball. “As you know it’s not in my hands. If the Knicks want to keep me, I’ll have to stay... Читать дальше...

With Steph Curry set to kick off his 15th NBA season, it’s fair to wonder how long the Warriors superstar plans to play in the league. On his recent appearance on the “Gils Arena” podcast, Curry was asked about what his ideal timeline was and if his projected career length would be on par with LeBron James, who is about to enter his 21st season in the NBA. “It’s somewhere in that range, but I never imagined myself being the forty-plus dude trying to hold on for dear life”, said Curry. “But who... Despite trade request, Damian Lillard still supported by majority of Portland fans

HoopsHype: Atlanta Hawks

In The Athletic’s survey of Trail Blazers fans, more than 1,600 subscribers were aligned on several key topics: Lillard’s trade request to Miami hasn’t damaged his reputation, but most side with Cronin’s tact of seeking a trade in the best interests of the Blazers, not Lillard. Also, there was overwhelming agreement that Cronin made the right call in determining Scoot Henderson’s talent was too special to trade on draft night.
