Tyrese Haliburton, Anthony Edwards believe they should be on the Team USA Olympic roster

0

News broke of veteran All-Stars like LeBron James and Stephen Curry wanting to play for Team USA in Paris while you guys were on the flight home. How did that affect you? Tyrese Haliburton: We all saw when we landed and kind of went our separate ways. And never really talked about it. I just know a lot of that group that was together, especially like me and Ant (Anthony Edwards), us two being two of the younger dudes there, we know that we both want to play for USA moving forward and kind of help, you know, the torch be passed. And it looks like this upcoming year is going to be, you know, the big guys want to play, and a lot of these guys probably want this to be their last run. But I think that me and Ant, we both feel like we were deserving to be on the team, and we would love to be on the team. I don’t even have to ask him, I already know. But it’s not up for us to decide. We’ve got to do what we can. We know we want to be a part of that — continuing what USA does.

Christopher Hine @ChristopherHine
Asked Anthony Edwards why it’s so hard for the offense to get back in rhythm once it has lost it:
“I don’t know, man. That’s a good question. I guess we’ll figure it out when we watch film. Like I said, I think we just went cold. Getting good shots, just weren’t making them.” – 11:55 PM
Christopher Hine @ChristopherHine
Anthony Edwards & Chris Finch had the same diagnosis for the offensive issues in the 3rd. Finch pointed to finishing poorly at the rim.
Edwards: “We were just missing. We went on a cold streak. They got hot, went on a run. It was impossible to stop them. – 10:48 PM

How did the Bulls beat the Pacers down the stretch of a one possession game?
By attacking Tyrese Haliburton over and over with a play called “two side.” Turn the sound on and listen to how they did it. pic.twitter.com/HeXi20eH7f10:34 PM

Bulls stomp the Pacers 34-22 in the fourth quarter and beat the Pacers 112-105. Pacers couldn’t get anything going on offense in the fourth, and their isolation defense was rough.
19 points and 13 assists for Haliburton. 20 points and 11 rebounds for Myles Turner. – 9:37 PM

Haliburton gets all the way to the rim just before the buzzer to give the Pacers a 55-53 lead at halftime. He’s got 11 points and 7 assists so far. 13 points for Myles Turner.
Pacers threes aren’t falling (6/23), but they’ve gotten good enough looks all night. – 8:10 PM

Wolves going absolutely bananas from perimeter — made 10 3-pointers *in the first quarter* to lead 42-35 after 1. Anthony Edwards 4-4, Naz Reid 3-3. – 8:02 PM
Tony East @TonyREast
Pacers up 30-27 after one quarter. 7 points and 6 assists for Tyrese Haliburton already. The second unit was once again the difference maker. – 7:36 PM

Haliburton would have been a nice Bull … – 7:28 PM

Nasty block by Jalen Smith, who runs the floor and is rewarded by a sick pass from Haliburton. He hits the layup. Awesome sequence to cut Chicago’s lead to 1. – 7:28 PM

From the weekend: Tyrese Haliburton was questionable to play, had a “trash” first half, then was fueled by a courtside fan — he took over and secured the road win.
“Ty did what he does and I love him for it,” Aaron Nesmith said.

With Anthony Edwards back in Atlanta tonight, have a read of this story I did on him in 2022 when I spent four days in ATL getting to know those who knew him best as he grew up and watched out for him as he found his way to the NBA. startribune.com/anthony-edward…1:33 PM

More on this storyline

What did you love about the USA experience? Tyrese Haliburton: The banter, the camaraderie. I think like, obviously when you’re a kid, you always want to wear a USA jersey because all the greats do. But being there with the guys and, you know, messing around, dudes recruiting, you can go from like recruiting to talking s— within like 10 seconds. Me and Ant would go from recruiting each other to like, “Oh you ain’t beatin us this year.” That was the fun with it and the competitive factor with it. But then also … externally, like obviously you play against (Pacers teammate Daniel) Theis (against Germany) and other guys that are in the league and you get to see them throughout the year. I love that about it too, because you’re playing  guys (who) are just different players (when playing for their countries), and it’s a fun challenge. -via The Athletic / November 1, 2023
Jon Krawczynski: Chris Finch on Anthony Edwards’ midrange game: “When he gets in there and kicks out rather than shoot, it’s like triple the value of PPP over his pull-up jumper. It feels like last year he kind of came into the season doing something similar. There will be a course correction, I’m sure.” -via Twitter @JonKrawczynski / October 31, 2023
Sirius XM NBA: “Super excited to see him continue to grow.” Timberwolves veteran G Mike Conley joined Rick Kamla & Antonio Daniels on Give and Go & told them why he is full of praise for his teammate Anthony Edwards. pic.twitter.com/J4ufHLa3sy -via Twitter @SiriusXMNBA / October 28, 2023
Bobby Manning: #Celtics could be facing a short-handed #Pacers team tomorrow: Tyrese Haliburton is questionable (ankle), as are Bennedict Mathurin (elbow) and Jalen Smith (knee). Wonder if we’d see Daniel Theis in Smith’s absence, who hasn’t played in Boston since the ’22 east finals. -via Twitter @RealBobManning / October 31, 2023
Tony East: Tyrese Haliburton didn’t practice today due to an ankle injury. He stepped on Jalen Smith’s foot during yesterday’s game. Bennedict Mathurin has a a right elbow injury and didn’t practice today either. Happened during the first half. He’s currently seeing a doctor about it. -via Twitter @TonyREast / October 31, 2023
