Sixers view Tyrese Maxey as a max free agent in 2024
Michael Scotto: The 76ers are preparing for Tyrese Maxey to be a max player in the summer of 2024 in free agency, I’m told. I think he could certainly grow into that. He’s a rising star and a potential All-Star-caliber player, whether it’s this year or in the years to come. I think they’ve got to figure out if he’s a point guard. The results with him having the ball in his hands have worked pretty well so far. I certainly think they believe he has a chance to be an All-Star. Some think he could maybe be an All-NBA player one day. I think the days of him being an off-the-ball guy like he was with Harden are done.

Keith Pompey on Joel Embiid’s future: There comes a point in time where if you’re serious about winning a championship, as a competitor in you, you can’t fault a person for wanting to leave after a while. At this particular time, I’ll say that Joel is monitoring the situation and how everything goes. Right now, they’re optimistic because Maxey is playing well, and they have a bunch of role players who can help them out. I know Tyrese Maxey has played well, but it seemed like it was at a point where this was the best deal the Sixers were going to get because the Clippers were the only team seriously interested.
