Grassroots club - Help needed (3 replies)
Some of you might know that I am heavily involved with running a Grassroots Childrens Football Club in Erdington, Holly Lane United.
When Covid-19 hit in March we took the tough decision, but the right decision, to immediately stop subs as a large number of our players parents were furloughed and clearly it's not right to take subs whilst we couldn't even train.
At that point I don't think many would have predicted just how long Grassroots football would be out of action for and it has hit us very hard. By the time our subs restart in August we will have lost around £16,000 in subs and from a number of fund raising events that we had planned (based on previous amounts raised at those events).
To give us a double whammy we are currently attempting to secure our own ground on a long term lease so a lot of that money was earmarked to buy new equipment such as ground maintenance equipment, securing the perimeter fencing and things like new goals as well as buying new kits for a number of the teams that have out grown last seasons. As you can imagine it is almost impossible to get sponsorship at the moment. We run as not for profits so every year we spend everything that comes in on the kids.
We still have a significant number of parents on furlough, and even worse some have been made redundant, so we are trying to look at different ways to claw back some of the money lost rather than put the onus on the parents at this time.
If anyone would like to donate, anything at all from £1, £2, £5 or anything else, please follow the link below. Every single penny would be greatly appreciated and every penny will be spent on the kids and improving the club for them. If you can't donate can you please share our link on your Facebook pages with friends and family. If we can reach 10000 people willing to donate a £1 then we'll hit our target!
Thanks and KRO!
