I don't mind hey mid-sentence. It's when people use it as a salutation. Or to start an email. Especially when you don't know who they are.

I blame Whatsapp -- it's the default message on your status bar: "Hey there I'm using Whatsapp". Vomit.

Hey Jude and Hey Dude were both made by English artists long before Whatsapp.
Hey Joe was 1960's and Hey Good Looking must have been in the 1940's, by Hank Williams I think. Americans of course. Читать дальше...

Think I’ve got it?

Small Heath Alliance

Had the ???? and a bit sick since last Thursday plus I keep getting cramp in my legs. Phoned doctor as I had food poisoning 8 weeks ago and just wanted to know if I should give a sample. He told me to wait a few more days. No cough, no sore throat but starting to feel like I have a temperature.

Puzzle question - need help (18 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Year 5 question. I must be thick

On a game show there are 3 doors.
Behind one door is £1000. Behind another is a spider. Behind the other door there is nothing.

Each door has a sign on it. However only ONE sign is TRUE

Behind which door is the £1000

Each sign reads
Door 1: there is nothing behind door 3
Door 2: the spider is behind this door
Door 3: there is a spider behind door 1

It’s definitely ⅔ not ½ odds.

It's not though is it.
Once you know one of the doors the goat is behind that one becomes null and void so the probability equation is down to two doors hence 1/2
Lol. Please read one of the links it explains it very thoroughly.
The links explain that the odds have changed from 1 in 3 to 1 in 2.

Hey

Small Heath Alliance

When did people start sending emails and messages starting with the word "Hey"? What a fricking American abomination.

Winds me up big style. Avoid. Especially from someone you don't know. Surely it's "Hi". Grr.

Colmore Row (as it was) (8 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Many, many decades ago, long before most of you were born,(sounds like a bedtime story), I was a an articled clerk to a Chartered Quantity Surveyor in Colmore Row.

Would any of you 'older' guys have a pic of the far end of Colmore Row? If you walk on the LHS crossing over Benetts Hill and before you reach Victoria Square there was an entrance to number 106 (I think).

On the ground floor there was an estate agents, long gone I suppose.

Big Brummie Camp Out (2 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

A lot of you will be familiar with the fantastic work that SIFA Fireside carry out for the homeless of the city, from their head office and support centre located a mere 10 mins walk from St Andrews in Digbeth.

This coming Friday, they are holding their 2020 version of the Big Brummie Camp Out, which is taking on a different concept this year, as it continues with the aim to raise to £50k over the next few months, to assist the charity with it's ongoing work helping those most vulnerable, and who've fallen on harder time. Who was the best player at their peak? #7 (13 replies)

One scaled the heights and played with some of the giants of the game; the other spent his career in front of just 15000, yet is still regarded as one of the greats of the English game.

2nd hand bikes (30 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

I know some of you on here are keen cyclists

I want to get my hands on a cheap 2nd hand bike , initially so I can take the kids out properly rather than walking behind them at a brisker pace than I am in condition for.

Probably will then make a bigger purchase down the line when I am certain I will use it enough. I holiday often in Wales so something versatile (hybrid) might suit me but open to suggestions

WHat are the pitfalls? WHat should I be looking out for? How... Читать дальше...

Re: Anfield pitch

Small Heath Alliance

Wasn't this all pitches back in the day, didn't they use lime when pitch marking back then? The line would have just been an alternative touch-line I guess.

Yeah, bit random, especially given the time posted. Have you heard of box sets?

Anfield pitch

Small Heath Alliance

Do you guys remember years ago that the Anfield pitch always had a sake line running parallel to the edge of the white line. It was like grass would not grow there. Does anyone know why this was? Bit random I know, but just a bit of a memory that popped up.

I thought Derek was great

I've watched 3 episodes of the first series today. I like bit. A lot. On 2nd series now. It’s brilliant. Derek is everything that most people aren’t. Fantastic character. Made me laugh and shed a tear.
Gervais is a special talent
I be just watched the first two episodes of Derek. Never bothered in the past, as I wrongly assumed it would be Gervais taking the pi55 out of a bloke with special needs. Читать дальше...
