Blues & Transfer records (2 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Before Neymar, the transfer record had more than doubled only twice. In 1903, Small Heath (now Birmingham ) splurged £500 on the Barnsley inside-forward Benny Green, quintupling a decade-old record that had stood since Aston Villa had broken the three-figure barrier to acquire the Scottish forward Willie Groves from West Bromwich. In 1932, River Plate signed the barrel-chested centre-forward Bernabé Ferreyra from Tigre for £23,000, obliterating the mark set four years... Читать дальше...

Re: What will you miss after lockdown?

Small Heath Alliance

Since BHX gave the green light to the new flight paths last gear, aircraft noise has increased significantly round these parts. I'll miss the peace and quiet above us.

From that particular era I can only think of Jerry Lee Lewis and Don Everly who are still with us.

What will you miss after lockdown?

Small Heath Alliance

At some point the world will begin to return to normal. No idea when. But it will.

What will you miss from this time?

For me the chance to be even closer to Mrs BlueNation. Our ritual now is a cup of tea and two chocolate digestives when we’ve finished various calls between 10:00 and 11:00

You?

Alternative player comparison (4 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

As it's day 3 of Edgbaston 2005 and we had one of the miracles of Headingly earlier in the spring:
Botham v Flintoff v Stokes?
It's Botham for me.

Re: Alternative player comparison

Small Heath Alliance

We are so lucky to have three of greatest all rounded in history of the game play for us in last 40 yrs.

Whenever I think of Botham, I recall one of his lesser known games, the oval 2001.
He bowled a monumental amount of overs! And took two worldy slip catches, we drew to keep the ashes after his heroics at hadingley, old Trafford & Edgbaston!

New Podcast ft BCFC - 'Anyone But Them' (8 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

Hi all,

Just in case anyone is after a time filler/killer during lockdown, I have recently started a new podcast, 'Anyone But Them'
It's a lighthearted podcast focusing on the sadistic manner us sports fans, in particular, tend to take as much joy out of seeing the failure of certain teams as we do our own.

The 3 presenters include a Bluenose, V*lla fan and United fan so there is plenty of Blues chat in there to keep you interested!

Feel free to have a listen and let us know what you think! Читать дальше...

wookie

The deluge we have had over the last hour bringing an end to the VE party in my street was perfectly timed.....

It started off ok, everyone social distancing and ended up with random people dancing the Hokey Cokey in a big circle together....

Re: Jude Bellingham

Small Heath Alliance

If owners are not in the position to underwrite clubs because of FFP then a lot of league clubs will need to cash in on their assets after this crisis.

We will be in a worse position to keep him than we were in February.

Revenues are down, FFP will need to be scrapped for a few years.

What’s for Breakfast? (27 replies)

Small Heath Alliance

So who’s having what this lovely morning?

I’m going for scrambled eggs, done in the microwave, with some lovely smoked salmon ????

Jude Bellingham

Small Heath Alliance

I was wondering if any of you are bothered by something that's been nagging me for a while - and that's our acceptance that Jude will leave fairly soon.

I'm old enough to remember Trevor Francis make his home debut - and be clattered by either Ron or Graeme Atkinson, I seem to recall - and we had him for years. (Probably too long for his own good, really)

But we've been nurturing Jude since he was a kid, he's played a handful of matches, says he's a Blues fan - but our only... Читать дальше...

Clubs may have to 'share resources' after pandemic

Small Heath Alliance

Think I mentioned this in one of the other threads a couple of weeks ago about clubs sharing kitmen and physio's etc...

Unless the FA and PFA get a grip and concentrate on protecting (or rather restoring) the competetiveness of the whole Pyramid

clubs like Blues will end up being Man City Reserves

Your Mansfield's will become Man City's academy

Re: Allan Donald

mad

Warwickshire were followed primarily by Blues fans in the late 80's and early 90's. Keep Right On was belted out at many a Lord's final

It was only after the Lara period of success that Villa fans in any great number began to pay much attention

Of course there were always the old brigade down there (some villa) amongst whom were quite a few from the era when it was acceptable to follow both Blues and Villa whichever was at home

The brand who did the van signage tweeted Blues this picture saying:

"Can we invite everyone?"

Blues replied saying "No sorry, locals only."

I heard someone today compare our current situation with ww2.
